Swedish Tournament Review

So the 19th Tyke Fifa Tournament: The Swedish Tournament has commenced. Here is the review I hope you enjoy it.

In what was viewed as the easier group of the two in this tournament. Group A consisted of JAG, Wenger, Trebs, 1man and Viva. First place was pretty formulaic, JAG beating everybody by narrow margins apart from drawing with Trebs in a dead rubber, but alas JAG took the top spot and ensured he was into his second consecutive semi-final. Things got a lot more interesting when Wenger started to pick up the results. The 8 – 1 outsider and debutant wasn’t given much hope by me but after smashing Trebs 6 – 0 and beating 1man 2 – 0 he was looking like hot property for second place. However Viva was also looking good for second place he too beating 1man 2 – 0 and Trebs 4 – 0 the latter two who contested a 3 – 1 victory for 1man with Trebs finishing bottom and 1man hovering above him in 4th place. Viva and Wenger just could not be separated… in their match that is! A 0 – 0 draw worked highly in Wenger’s favour, but goal difference proved to be the bane for Viva as Wenger on his debut piped him for that semi-final place.

Now on to Group B which had the look of a tough, tough group containing 3 players ranked in the top 10 with Kent, Tyke and Sideshow with Monica and Marky no easy foes either. Though if I’m honest this group never really got going, Kent and Sideshow put on a masterclass of how to negotiate tricky groups like this. Kent continued THAT streak by beating everybody in the group to top the group with ease and go through to the semi-finals as predicted. Side suffered a 4 – 2 reverse against Kent, but was too much for all the rest beating Tyke 2 – 1, Monica 2 – 0 and destroying Marky 5 – 1. This left us mere mortals to see who would occupy the remaining spots and take the ranking point. Monica beat Marky to the tune of 4 – 0 which in turn of a bore 0 – 0 draw with Tyke granted him the third place spot. Marky and Tyke fought out a 1 – 1 draw which meant the former took the wooden spoon and the latter went into 4th place.
