We started match very well vs. Man U

According to Tomkins Times' in depth analysis, we started the game very well reminiscent of last year's performances, confirms what some of our posters were saying on this board.

Tomkins usually gives a goo analogy

Anyone who watched the game knows we created more chances and looked more dangerous. We just don't have people who can score goals and you don't win anything without strikers..

Most of my mates who are Utd fans were really annoyed with their performance on Sunday and said that if we had a decent striker playing we would of won the game as their defence is as poor as ours but the difference is they had 3 chances and took them all as they have quality up front.

yes we really dominated the first 4 minutes!!!

ffs...

we were ok but the reality was utd were as bad at passing as they were v southampton and we let them away with it.

I agree most honest mancs are chuckling they won but are not buying the muck the pundits are now rushing to peddle about title pushes... phil neville

I'm not taking much from the game at Old Trafford.

Brendan's selection was absolutely bizarre. Lovren, Skrtel and Johnson in a back 3? Wow, awful. Gerrard got dropped back into central midfield where he's been awful this season and partnered with Allen, who looked bereft of confidence against Basel and was even worse against United.

No offence to United, but the reason we got so much joy was that they're an unholy show at the back and struggle to impose their midfield on games. Their winning run is baffling, and is as much to do with teams not finishing off the stream of chances United give them as it does United's good play.

Our functionality and shape was awful on Sunday IMO, and Rodgers' selections continue to baffle me.

You were as good as we were on Sunday. I'm baffled how we're third.

Brendan said Liverpool deserved to win and were the better team, amazingly he said it with a straight face

A far better keeper, a more ruthless attack, and a bit of luck in terms of teams squandering a lot of chances (some of that can be attributed to De Gea's outstanding form).

6 wins on the bounce is brilliant going, but I do think that your performances have to start improving, I don't think that form is remotely sustainable with those performances. However, if you do improve, then this run of games will be the ones that solidified your place in the top 4.

They remind me of Liverpool's first 3 wins of last season, all dicey 1-0s where the performances were fairly poor bar some decent stuff against Stoke. They were games that could have gone either way, but we got 9 points from 9 and it gave us the cushion to keep us up there for the rest of the season.

Greatteams, definitely can't argue against the fact that we created far more chances than we have done recently.

However, BR's selections are soul-destroying, and he needs to find a better way to get us playing. Switching to a back 3 made up of arguably our 3 worst defenders, shunting Henderson out to RWB and then plonking two out of form central midfielders in front of it all and relying on a handful of attackers to win the game isn't sustainable IMO.

Still think United were bizarrely open and that's why we looked threatening. There was next to no ammunition being fed forward from midfield, it just so happened that there didn't need to be because United's middle and back third are poor.

To be fair, we missed an incredible amount of clear cut chances. I'm not at all happy with the set up or how our defence or midfield played, but even accounting for all that, it's incredible that we didn't score at least three goals.
