Hi Newcastle Fans, an amazing Forest fan here to ask you a question on a past experience you have had which is now plaguing us.
When you had a Alan Shearer i.e (a player legend for you) take the reigns as manager which then became apparent would not work out, how did you approach it at the time?
Obviously you wanted him to do well and hoped the best for him, but when it started to become apparent that the situation may not be working out for the best of the club, did you want him sacked or did you just hope beyond hope that he would have been provided with more time to hopefully turn the situation around?
The reason i ask; as you are probably aware is that we are in the same situation now with Pearce. We can all agree that we want him to do well but it is getting to the point now, that even though we all love the guy, we are wondering whether him being manager is best for the club. Therefore, I was wondering what your thoughts were at the time with Shearer and whether you think he should have had more time to try and bring promotion to the club after you were relegated or whether the decision was right to sack him (which it ultimately proved to be) and to replace him with Hughton?
Thanks

That's true but wasn't he more of a Liverpool player?

Pearce has coaching badges and experience albeit not much at Championship level, I suppose Shearer must have had some coaching badges, but his main claim to fame since hanging up his boots has been as a football pundit and he did say it was temporary at the time!

Keegan was a legend at Newcastle. Yes he was successful at Liverpool but he had helped Newcastle get promoted from the lower leagues. He was much more a legend at the time than even Shearer and was treated like a messiah. It also went very well for him and he almost won the league.

I would've loved it, LOVED IT, if he had won the league. Would have been a full away end for Psycho's testimonial at the end of tjay season rather than the thousand or so Geordies that did turn up.
