who doesn't want a series of easy draws today?
Looking at the threads on this topic everyone seems to be hoping our group will consist of teams like Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb. I'm wondering if I'm the only one who doesn't want this?
It really does not prepare us well for the tougher teams ahead. Our recent outings against top European opposition have been so poor. The last giant we knocked out was Liverpool under Hiddink's stewardship all the way back in 2009. For a club like us that is unacceptable
Under Ancelotti we seemed to be going backwards in Europe. Those painful games against United last season where he was made to look like a ribbit caught in the headlights. Don't know what was more painful, bringing on Mikel when we were trailing United or seeing Drogs relegated to bench for the following crunch clash at Old Trafford
I'm actually hoping we draw at least one team team like Milan, Napoli or Dortmund today. We have to prove we can hold our own against the best teams, something we have not shown in recent years
Thoughts?
Am I the only one

I have no backbone, I want an easy route

City and United to get hard groups. Arsenal to travel far. Us to have easy trips to Belgium, Holland and France
It would be fascinating to see how City match up against Real Madrid.
Jose vs Mancini
Ronaldo vs Aguero
Silva vs Ozil
Yaya Toure vs Pepe
Balotelli meeting Jose again
I don't care who get as we should get through regardless but I would literally have a quick one at the prospect of City playing Real. I actually think man for man City have a better team than Real, just my opinion though

What about the fact that AVB shouldn't e thrown in the deep ends straight away? I mean he's barely had a chance to build HIS team.
A bad CL this year would put a lot of pressure on him from Roman.
If we get an 'easier' group, then by the time the knock-out rounds begin, we could have a much better squad as a unit, who hopefully will have adapted to mew styles that AVB wants

Maybe I am over-estimating
I just want to see us hold our own against a top European team, something I have not seen us do since the days of Hiddink
We're going to have hold our own against these teams sooner rather than later. I do believe we have the quality to beat anyone out there, i just want to see us prove it

So important to top the group & avoid the best clubs for as long as possible, so an easy group every time for me.

CSTP
On the flipside if he get a pi$$ easy group and don't win every game home and away all of a sudden the pressure is on. The clueless media are so stupid they would probably start baying for blood after a 1-1 draw away to Benfica, when in fact that would be a good result.
I am praying for a group of death (preferably one involving Barca or City) because it would be a great chance for one of the big boys to be knocked out early.
Call me deluded but I think in a group consisting of Barca, AC Milan, City and Dortmund, Barca would be by no means dead certain to go through, take into consideration that Barca never do well until the group stages. Even we managed to get the better of them when we played them in what was deemed a group of death at the time.
From a personal viewpoint given the fact we have City and United after European excursions I would much rather have a softer group

I'm just saying I don't want us to get say Basle, Zagreb and Moscow
Not saying I want the group of death but I would like to see us draw a team like Milan to Dortmund just to prove we can compete with the best
