Happy new year boys and girls, lets start with a win and make it 3 in a row
Liverpool FC:Mignolet, Can, Toure, Sakho, Moreno, Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling
Subs:Ward, Lovren, Lambert, Manquillo, Borini, Markovic, Ojo
Leicester FC: Hamer, De Laet, Drinkwater, Morgan (c), Hammond, James, Vardy, Schlupp, Simpson, Mahrez, Wasilewski
Head-to-head
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five games against Leicester (W4, D1), with their most recent defeat by 2-0 at Filbert Street on 3 March 2001, when Ade Akinbiyi and Muzzy Izzet scored.
Liverpool
Liverpool are vying to record three consecutive Premier League victories for the first time this season.
Brendan Rodgers' side have scored seven goals in their last three league games - more than in their previous eight matches combined.
They registered 11 shots on target in the win against Swansea - their highest figure in a Premier League game this season - and scored four goals for the first time since March.
The Reds have benefited from four own goals this term - the joint-highest figure in the top flight (along with Southampton).
Leicester City
Victory at Hull on 28 December ended Leicester's 13-match winless run (D2, L11).
They have not won back-to-back away games in the top flight since November 2003.
Leicester are winless in eight New Year's Day top-flight matches, losing the last five, since beating Stoke 1-0 at home in 1966.
Their only New Year's Day top-flight away win was by 1-0 at Derby County in 1938.
The Foxes made 95 Premier League blocks in the first half of the season - the second highest tally in the top flight (one behind Hull).

Easy to say these things in hindsight but there were times in the game it looked like we'd go on and win by five.
------
That was probably the case and of course you hope your defence will hold out if you squander a chance or two, but again there is an area that's an open wound for us.

We are just not a balanced side and while we got away with being top heavy last season because the top end was so magnificent, we can't get away with it this season.
Until we find balance as a team we will continue to be inconsistent.
That said, all the games in such a short space of time isn't easy, and we are not the only team who has struggled today.
Points dropped earlier in the season will prove more costly than those in the busy Xmas period.

I don't think our defence have a case to answer. It is was two long range shots

yeah i know, hendo presses well in the middle of the park. Gerrard also comes so deep all the time and this pushes the defense back

You defend as a team TOOR.
There are always ways a goal can be stopped.
We are conceding at the same rate as last season despite spending £30-40m on defenders in the summer, plus Can is generally thought of as a more defensive player too.
Only Newcastle have conceded more than us in the top 12, and our attack isn't outscoring enough any more.
7 sides are outscoring us, including all of the top 6.
It's clear despite improvement in the last few weeks we are still a side who will find it difficult to go on a winning run.
We can't finish in the top 4 without one at some point because we are playing catch up on not just 1 or 2 teams but 4 or 5.

Of course you defend as a team, I'm not suggesting you don't. I just think it is a mistake to blame the defenders for two long range goals. Sahko especially was outstanding. I think we've got a bit of the confidence back to play football and it's to go back to our natural game. Of course that depends on us having a striker and for some reason which I don't know Balotelli is still out.
