Watching the Edinburgh derby and Scott Allan is the standout player on the park. He was the same when hibs beat Rangers. If Stuart Armstrong was to move on in January how would united fans feel about us trying to get Allan to replace Armstrong. Yes he was disrespectful towards the club in the past but he was young and we all make mistakes. He is a top quality young Scottish player who I think will go onto bigger things again. Thoughts?

Having watched him recently I would have him at Celtic Park, if it wasn't for the fact he is a wee prck
Hec - that's never stopped us before

Welcome to the board bud. We need more good guys around here.
As for the OP - I'd take Allan back in a heartbeat to be honest. I believe he's only on a one year deal and if Hibs don't come back up (and I think they probably will) then I'd be surprised if he didn't move on.
Having said that, I don't know where we'd play him. My first thought was in one of the 'pivot' positions but Allan's defensive work is easily the worst part of his game. He'd probably have to be a straight replacement for Armstrong and would play in behind the forward.

Can he play there?
Never seen him in such an advanced position

I don't see why he couldn't. He's good on the ball, he has vision, technically gifted with a bit of pace about him. I'm not sure if he's got goals in him though.
Having said that, if he improved his defensive work he'd be perfect in the deep lying role next to a ball winner.

As long as he's sitting and has mobility, do you really need two "ball winners" in the pivot roles?

Personally I don't think so, but Jackie seems to like it and the way we seem to be playing is more and more about sitting in, winning the ball back and breaking at pace. Our possession stats are actually quite poor this season because of our system of play.
I'd personally rather we played with an Armstrong type player deeper but he'd have to improve his positional sense defensively. He doesn't need to be an aggressive ball winner but he'd need to know where he needs to be.

Yeah.
More to breaking up play than sliding in
