The internet was a buzz for Messi to Chelsea rumours last night, in particular Twitter. It was surreal to read.
I for one don't believe it, but according to the rumours he is unhappy at Barca and didn't turn up to training yesterday, and weirdly started following Chelsea players and Chelsea Football club on social media (Not suggesting that means anything but strange if you ask me).
it couldn't happen could it?

I don't think for one minute it'll happen, but I would love it to happen.

Don't get carried away, he's been following me on Twitter for ages and I dismissed a facebook friend request from him last week!
He's becoming a bit of a nuisance to be honest

Surely buting a player for 200m would effectively bar us from buting any further players.
Talk about putting all ur eggs in one basket. I dont believe we are after him, but if we are, to pay 200m on one player would be an appalling piece of risk management.

Biggish what if Adidas are willing to finance most of the transfer fee ?
Would be a lot less risky for us and Adidas would get to nab Messi away from Nike.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How would that not be 3rd party ownership
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on player ownership but the idea that Adidas would help fund the deal isn't new. Been hearing that for a couple of years.
Either way I assume it's possible and I don't think it would necessarily mean that Adidas would own Messi, just that he would represent Adidas as opposed to Nike and that surely would be highly lucrative for Adidas.

Got to say that I do not think Messi would be as good in the PL as he is in La Liga.
Would rather Ronaldo or Suarez.

We should have gone for Sanchez last summer. Would have been way way cheaper than any deal for Messi.
Then again I'm tired of banging that drum. Opportunity well and truly missed there.

But isn't he already an Adidas boot player?

Adidas represent Messi anyway Superb, it's just that Nike are Barcelona's sponsors. Adidas ideally would want him wearing a shirt of an Adidas sponsored club. Ronaldo is in a reverse situation. He's with Nike but plays for a Adidas sponsored club.

Cheers for clearing that up Mr C
If Adidas are willing to pay most of the fee then it would be a great deal. If not then there's no way we can afford £200 million, certainly not in the FFP era anyway.

the whole Nike/Addidas funding players has been banded around for some of the Utd signings over the last couple of years. weather it ever came to fuition with Di Maria i dont know but when they have been linked with Ronaldo and Bale there is usually a mention of Nike funding part of the deal.
Perhaps some on the Utd board could shed some light into it???
