What on Earth is the situation with Benny? I was never much of a fan myself, but the boy obviously has some talent, yet you see absolutely hide nor hair of him.
He doesn't even train with the first team squad - unlike others who have allegedly had a falling out - and isn't ever linked with a move it seems. Persona non grata.
Is it to do with the quenelle do we think?

Why the training alone though?
Leads me to think its an order from up high.

He and Adebayor fell with the AVB regime.
But whereas Timmy took the latter back in, BAE has not had that chance.
The big difference between the two is wage costs, and the fact that BAE has always been honest about the fact this is just a job to him (so no ostentatious public displays/expressions towards the club etc) .

I was actually a massive fan of his a few seasons ago, yes he'd give us heart attacks, but was pretty consistently good and played his part in what was a very good team at the time.
Remember the interview with Redknapp where he said Benny probably doesn't even know who we're playing next week, he just goes out and does it.
Another interview with BAE himself that said he doesn't love football, it's just his job, so he'll do as well as he can, in training and playing, but isn't anything more than turning up to work as there are more important things in life.
I didn't mind that kind of attitude and made smile at the honesty, despite the obvious privilege and the fact that he was representing the 40-odd thousand watching the team that were passionate because he was playing well.
Such a waste that his attitude has ruined any chance of playing at a top club again though. Even at the World Cup, the last I saw of him, he was shoving a team mate and arguing. Complete lack of professionalism and deserves to be nowhere near the first team when we currently have a set of playrs that are showing they are giving their all and working hard to represent the club.

He is (or at least was) a good left back but like adam85 says his attitude and commitment towards the game were always questionable. That being said, I'd still probably feel more comfortable with him at left back rather than Danny Rose...

I cant help but like him. He wears his heart on his sleeve and says what is on his mind. If there is one gripe I guess it would be he has been a bed blocker for us for a couple of years and with a bit more effort and a little less nonchalance we might have been able to sell him but that boat has sailed I guess.
