Head-to-head
Sunderland have won just one of the last four times they have hosted Liverpool (W1, D1, L2).
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five meetings against Sunderland (W3, D2).
Sunderland
Sunderland have only won one of their last 10 league games (W1, D6, L3). Their only league victory at the Stadium of Light this season was against Stoke at the beginning of October.
The Black Cats have drawn 11 of their 20 league matches this season. They have won just three league games, the joint-lowest tally in the top flight.
Gus Poyet's side have failed to score in nine of their 20 league matches this season. Only Aston Villa and Burnley have scored fewer than Sunderland's 10 home goals.
They have accrued a league-high 52 yellow cards this season.
Liverpool
Liverpool have lost just one of their last eight league matches, a 3-0 defeat at Manchester United in December (W4, D3, L1).
The Reds have conceded an average of 1.78 goals in their away matches this season (only Burnley and QPR have conceded more). Four times in this league campaign, Liverpool have conceded three goals away from home.
While Sunderland are the Premier League's draw specialists, Liverpool are one of only two top-flight teams not to have drawn away from home this season.

Kav - hope youre right. agree with your sentiment, we seem much more settled. tactical versatility is good but changing formation every game isnt. hopefully we have found something that works. has to be said that sunderland were appalling today though

Yeah agreed Sunderland have been shocking at home all season though you probably heard the boos at half time. Goalscoring is a massive problem for them. However we can only beat whats put in front of us. Hopefully upwards and onward from here because as we've seen with Chelsea a points lead can be wiped off very quickly and we need similar for top four.

Mignolet kept a clean sheet

I have given Markovic plenty of stick but that was the best 45 minutes he has played since he has been here. I hope he continues to improve
The team as a whole were very poor second half and stopped the pressing game which they tried in the first half
I suppose a clean sheet and a win against a very poor Sunderland side will make most of us happy

Everton games delayed because Goodisons falling apart!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If that's the criteria for delaying a game, they shouldn't have played for about 10 years now?

Sunderland are struggling at home but are still hard to beat.
Chelsea and Utd couldn't win there, Arsenal only won narrowly.
City are the only team who won comfortably (in the end).
That's a good 3 PTS.
Another 3 at Villa and we will really be in business before the hard games start.
Our run until early April is pretty brutal, so we need some form going into it.

his on the pitch demeanour reminds me of Berbatov.
After play switches he immediately goes into 'energy conserve mode' and walks like it's sunday in the park.
Not a criticism, that's just what it looks like
I like him
