Brilliant Darragh MacAnthony:slates players

Thats more like it. The players are due a rollicking, trying to get the manager the sack. They can easily start winning a lot of games but I think Fergie has lost the dressing room so it needed the players to get a rude awakening. Hope we go on a winning run now and the players put in the performances instead of hide behind its the managers fault. If we start winning games again we can still get final play off spot.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has launched an astonishing Twitter tirade at his players following Saturday's 2-0 defeat by Colchester.

The Irishman gave 11 reasons why his players had annoyed him during a loss which left Posh 11th in League One.

"Like all fans and our manager, there are many things I have the hump with after today. Care to know them all?" he asked before listing his gripes.

The self-made millionaire started each of the 11 tweets with an expletive.

MacAnthony, who became Peterborough chairman eight years ago, finished with a message to any players who had taken offence.

"Oh and finally," he tweeted. "If any of my players are bit too sensitive to what's been said, feel free to let me know anytime. Or, alternatively, just do your job!"

MacAnthony once described himself as a "rebel who wants to change things in football"

MacAnthony took over from Barry Fry as chairman in 2006

MacAnthony's list of grievances was:

"...that it's always the manager who is held responsible when a team of players fold like a stack of cards when the going gets tough!"
"... that our team can play with that kind of tempo/intensity for first 25 minutes, then follow that up with the 65 minutes we all witnessed!"
"... that a player of Joe Newell's ability can miss an open goal from five yards out early on. He should be scoring 10/15 a season."
"...that a striker I paid half a million for, minutes before Colchester score, scuffs great chance eight yards out with nobody near him."
"... that Bossie allows their top scorer to get in front of him to tap in their first goal, shouldn't happen!"
"... that our centre back runs 50 yards to edge of opposition's box, doesn't pass or shoot but loses ball & they go other end and score."
"... that both our full-backs who had plenty of the ball couldn't deliver any crosses of any merit or quality or with urgency."
"...that we had a ref who cost us Crewe game because of incorrect decision was given us again, then sent manager off and many yellows today!"
"... that as going has got tough many thousands of fans have bit like our players, have folded and taken their ball and gone home!"
"...Tomorrow I'll still pay the bills & next Saturday will pay thousands to watch my team play & hopefully win."
"... that our goalkeeper had three shots to save all game but we conceded two goals!"

Darragh for manager?

A good tweet, overall, by Darragh.

Two comments from me:

The Ref was appalling. He gave number of yellow cards to Posh players for non-yellow card offences and only started penalising U's players when the crowd made its displeasure know. The boos at half-time were for the Ref.

The vast majority of Posh fans (perhaps, the non-tweeting ones) have shown the utmost patience. Darragh's "many thousands of fans have bit like our players, have folded and taken their ball and gone home!" comment is an overstatement. The boos at the end of the game for the result were justified.

Well both my teams not getting the luck after dominating games. They both need to take SAF advice better to play crap and win then play well and lose. The more games man utd peterborough dominate the more we draw and lose. Football is a funny old game.
