morning all wolves (and Blackburn) fans
no thread up yet so I thought I'd do the honours this week
HISTORY
two of the original twelve clubs - both sides have a great history but have struggled in recent seasons after flirting with the premier league
head to head the clubs have played 91 games with wolves winning 35 and Blackburn 36, so as little between the sides as there is between wayne rooney's ears (either below or above the skull)
that record is mirrored in the past 5 seasons where again Blackburn pip wolves by the odd win. but at ewood park it's played four won two for wolves, so nothing to suggest home team's have the upper hand of late
probably the biggest game between the two clubs of late was the 3-2 defeat in may 2011 that gave wolves' fans the biggest highs and lows in 90 minutes. getting thrashed at half time, a spirited fight back second half, with a wonder goal from part time hobbit stephen hunt, saw us avoid relegation at the last gasp and laugh all the way home at the pictures of crying blouse fans
STARS
two clubs famous for the very best of no nonsense british centre forwards
blackburn's glory year of the prem title also saw them sign the greatest post war striker england has seen. shearer's record of 112 goals in 138 appearances for the club phenomenal for a prem side.
wolves' own goal-machine bully may not have had the fortune to play in the prem (and his own loyalty to wolves denied him that chance) but his record of 306 goals in 474 games marks him as one of the true greats - as his goals for england proved he could have done it all at a higher level as well.
PREDICTION
heart says a narrow win for wolves 2-1
head says defeat by the same score line
LINE-UP
expect a similar shape from KJ but with the huge loss of sako it will mean changes up front. RVLP on the left, henry on the right - with benik afobe watching from the stands...
