Messi had 41 goals and 14 assists from 46 club appearances in 2013/14. The fact most agree he had a 'poor season' underlines the ridiculous standards he and CR have set.

Kroos had moments but was nothing more than solid.
Modric ran,alongside Di Maria,Madrids midfield.

And what about Godin?
Another quality performer.

Agreed.

Though tell that to the Liverpool fans, some of whom were very happy last season to proclaim him the "(second) best player in the world".

Through Xmas/Jan last season I'd say he had 3rd best wrapped up

From the end of Jan onwards he went off the boil a bit

For me the only players that have been better than Suarez since the last time they named the team are Messi and Ronaldo. But he is sneaky and tried to eat someone served a huge ban so in the end I agree he can't be in it.
