Wilfried Bony

So much for signing him, how can we compete when you have teams like city buying up all the decent talent.

Bet he doesn't get many games.

Stupid OP. Liverpool buy players that other clubs have been after in the past, now the shoe is on the other foot.

He's free scoring wherever he's been. The only proviso is he's not really every played for a top class team. His international record is a one in three affair and the Ivory Coast hardly rub shoulders with the top class often. He's also getting very close to being classed as peaking for a striker 27 so the value will drop after this transfer inevitably.

Man City are paying the absolute top dollar for a player of Bony's class. I very much doubt he will get anywhere near Aguero's class at City.

Good luck Bony, I hope you make it. The future, almost without exception, will be that wages will be performance-based. That having been said, he was priced out of our league, pardon the pun. If he is worth £5M more than Luis when we bought him, then I am truly a Dutchman.

Is he worth £10m less than Carroll?

Torres is nothing to do with system, he is finished.

**************************************************************
At Liverpool he got the ball early and thrived on one-to-ones with the goalkeeper.

At Chelsea the build up play was much slower, players like Lamps weren't giving him the ball quickly enough.

Only when Benitez took over at Chelsea did we see Torres near his Liverpool best. The three amigos - Mata, Hazard and Oscar got the ball to Torres much quicker.

But agree that today's Torres is a spent force. Let's hope Simeone can get more out of him at Atletico.

Torres was never anywhere near his Liverpool best.

He improved a bit under Benitez, 0.36 per game compared to 0.21 per game before Rafa and 0.27 after Rafa. This wasn't because Chelsea changed style though, he just had a confidence boost from a manager he trusted.

His Liverpool average was 0.57, so he was still miles away from that level.

I can't argue against those stats, but the widespread perception is that Benitez made Chelsea play much more entertaining football than in the previous few seasons.

City buy talent - Wow.

It's better than spending a fortune on a bag of snot which is what a couple of clubs have done over the last 2 years.
