The Curious Case of Marc Albrighton

What has this guy done wrong?

To be left on the bench in favour of Lawrence (no offence to Lawrence, he looks a good prospect) was nothing short of bonkers.

Any ITK's out there know anything on this one?

I agree. All very strange especially with the amount of premiership experience and nous he has, something we have been lacking.

i was thinking along the lines of ben marshall mersey, but albrighton actually does a job on the pitch unlike marshall. its all very strange, maybe the fans should start singing his name during the matches.

Yes, the really strange thing about it is that he's looked pretty decent in the last couple of matches, albeit against poor opposition. That Lawrence came on ahead of him is particularly shocking given that Albrighton represented the chance of a single quality delivery into the box onto the head of Ulloa or King. This is no slight against Lawrence, who has tried really hard over the last couple of matches, but he looks more like one for the future than the present.

Maybe he was not someone pearson wanted and we all know what pearson is like with players he never courted

If I was Marc Albrighton, I would rip up my contract, tell Pearson to do one and find a club who would actually treat me fairly.

The guy has been nothing short of brilliant in the few occasions he has played and to see his very strong performance against Villa rewarded with a place on the bench must be absolutely gut wrenching for the guy. He must wonder why he ever bothered coming here.

As for his attitude, I haven't ever seen an ex manager or player complain about him. He is, by all accounts, a thoroughly professional player and person. But then, so were Jermaine Beckford, Neil Danns and Nick Powell before they joined this club, now they are regarded as trouble makers with huge ego's. I wonder who could possibly being using their contacts with their beloved national newspapers to feed those lies?

Brilliant?

Bit like your knack to only post when you smell blood in the air.

He has been short of brilliant - he's been good and certainly worthy of getting on over Lawrence, but let's not overdo it. It was a close thing between him and Knockaert to start on Saturday, while Schlupp justified his selection.

But regarding the ones you mention: Beckford I'm afraid was getting something of a reputation, although isn't a troublemaker - just not a team player. Danns started building a reputation when Sven was here, complaining on social media about playing out of postition for instance - hardly professional. As for Nick Powell, I don't think anybody knows what's going on there.

Pearson doesn't turn players unprofessional; he just finds out the ones that are.

Foxello
Really don't think those are your thoughts. Trying to stir things up???

Incidentally, there are other ways you can be bad in training aside from having a bad attitude. Niggling injuries, depression, confidence through the floor - there's a whole raft of possible issues there and I just hope that the management are taking his performances into account and aren't just overlooking him because he's quiet and not a big character - i.e. that they aren't mistaking introversion for lack of interest. (For instance. For some reason I get the impression he's an introvert. I may be wrong.)

The other three Foxello mentions have each put in performances on the pitch to make me question their attitude in one way or another though.
