Should we rest players tonight?

Anyone else think that they would prefer to rest a few key players for tonight's game? I know it's a semi final and it's against Liverpool, who will probably have most of their first team out.

It's always nice to win a trophy, but I still think the league is more of a priority. Would rather rest the likes of Costa, Hazard, Fabregas and maybe a few others.

Have them back maybe for the FA cup game on Saturday, but then another week's rest for the City game.

The players have just had 2 weeks with only one game so should be well rested. Tonight should be an all out effort to get a lead, a good lead. Rest a few players for Bradford and then a few more for the 2nd leg.

Smash the scouse tonight like Swansea.

Ramires starts today? I think so.

Might be a good idea to start Remy or Schurrle on the right(narrow-ish) with Costa upfront both making (diagonal) runs in behind, seeing as Liverpool play three at the back.

Just noticed Schurrle has scored 10 away goals and only 4 at home(Arsenal, City, PSG and Sporting).

OP are you sure you're not Brendan in disguise ??

Liverpool certainly won't be resting players tonight. Brenda will be desperate to win this tie.

Ha ha. Nope. I just value the league and F.A cup higher. Suppose you guys are right though. I would just prefer a 7 day rest for the City game.

This lot haven't won anything yet, Carling Cup good starting springboard to go on to win in the bigger competitions.
Great for the mentality and confidence.

Don't forget 2005.
Winning that first cup under Jose was the catalyst to our incredible momentum and success going forward.

Exactly. Winning this Cup would be a great springboard and only increase this team's chances of winning the title.

They haven't won anything yet so winning a Cup would give them a lot of confidence and take pressure off.

For that reason I think that winning the League Cup this season is actually more important than the FA Cup.

Part of the mental toughness that has made Chelsea so successful in recent years is going in to every game with the same mind-set, to win. Chelsea take every game very seriously and while I wouldn’t want to be irresponsible with players unless there is a problem I’d keep close to our winning formula, keep the machine ticking over.

I’ve no problem with 1-3 coming in but when you change more than that you begin to change the integrity of what makes a team. It is like blooding youngsters, I don’t see as much benefit bringing too many in to the team at one time because they lose that pure first team experience. You want players stepping up in to the team, not a reserve team standing in.

Depends on who you mean to rest...no reason why Zouma & Remy can't come in tonight really...for Cahill Willian.

Se how we look at HT or an hour in, if we're comfy slot out a couple as Jose sees fit

Courtois is back apparently too & Cech back on duty at the weekend
