I was a big Fan of Martinez last season. We played some great football, it was all new, teams weren't sure how to play against us and all was rosey.
This season however, we are completely lacking in idea's. For all that possession last night, we did not create a clearly goalscoring opportunity. We had no creativity in Midfield or Wide areas and its been the same all season and its hard to watch.
Team's have worked out how to play against us, either play a high line and we eventually make mistake's and lose ball in dangerous area's or play like West Brom did last night and put Eleven men behind the ball, knowing we can't break them down and play on the counter.
Martinez just doesn't seem to want to change things and getting very frustrating. On paper we have the best squad we ever had since the Premier League began, yet look at our league position and form. I hope I'm wrong but I think he has lost the dressing room.
Please prove me wrong Robby

I can see your point of view Phil, however would our fanbase accept a rivals old manager? He was as popular as a dose at chelsea even after winning in Europe!
We aint Chelsea though,Question should be would Benitez or Martinez would improve our position as it stands here and now.

I know we are not Chelsea, but how woul dyou feel if Rodgers, Kenny, Evans or Rafa came in to manage Everton?
If anyone coming in would improve things is the $1,000,000 question

I want the best for Everton,I was happy when we got sheedy, beardsley etc,If and it's a big if,we went for Benitez and he was the best man for the job and he accepted (I doubt he would) then I'd accept that we got the best Everton could get.
Martinez is going through a terrible spell at present, but he's not helping himself or Everton FC by his actions, choices of players and positions they play, his substitutions and above all his rhetoric when it comes down to how we are playing.
The Mirallas situation and Eto'o jumping ship at the first chance also puts pressure on his management of the club with style we play and the togetherness of the squad

BENITEZ.......The benefits,(in my opinion)
Players and the Opposition would respect him.
He would have greater influence in the Transfer Market. Players would be attracted by his vast knowledge, his selection and tactical skills and the Knowledge that he would ensure his own demands were met by The Chair,The Board and The playing and Coaching Staff.
He would not rely on the platitudes and nonsense that Martinez produces on a daily basis.
His Family still live locally.
Finally; It would upset the R.S. No end!

Much like Rafa, Martinez is his own man and not swayed by the views and opinions of others. Rafa got a rough deal with G&H and was unable t change the way they ran/operated so I doubt he would have much luck with our Chair/Bopard.
The players you mentioned that moved is slightl different IMO, there was a friendly rivalry between clubs/fans.....
That has soured over teh years and i am sure that if those players were to make the move now it would not be so popular - again, my opinion of the situation.
Moyes flopped after teh highs of 4th and Martinez looks like he is following a similar trend....But I am pretty sure the 'fans' unrest was not at this level for his troubles.
Taking a manager should be based on what he can do....not to annoy others or we should just look at Kenny as he has won a hell of a lot more in his time in football than Rafa

Dunno what happens during training week in week out,but If I was Martinez I'd try and sharpen up on our defending from crosses, both open play and dead ball and funnily enough also our delivery of crosses.
It seems from a simple layman/bystanders view, that the emphasis on tippy tappy possession football has had a massive impact on basic defending and crossing of the ball.
Could it be the effort and time taken to train and develop the players to play possession football seemingly at all costs is now that is causing us to not do the basics to a standard to keep us in the premiership.
As it stands one thing can be certain,Pullis and Pardew will have their sides doing the basics that's for sure

Didn't seem to be an issue with defensive solidity last season....or crossing...or when we had posession in a tippy-tappy style.
he turned Jags into a player who would bring the ball out.....sorry, scrap that: he already had that ability, Martinez let them show what they can do and not just play the percentage.

Last season as Martinez has said was a transition season and therefore the players were still heavily influenced by the Moyes regime,
Defenders were first and foremost defenders whose main purpose was to prevent goals being scored by the opposition. As you have quite rightly said Martinez has brought Jags ability to play the ball out.
Dunno about all the blues on here, but give me a defender who can defend by putting the ball in row Z when needed but also can bring a ball out with composure when required. It seems that row Z is no longer an option allowed to our defence and that could be a reason why we have the worse record for conceding goals from errors in the top 5 European leagues.
A bit of av it when needed would probably have not had us holding that particular record

Last season was the first with split CB and attacking FB down both sides. So apart from Barry/McCarthy along with Howard and the CB pair......everyone else had an attacking bias.
He even left Barkley/Mirallas up the pitch as that's where they did their best work. Blame the manager all you want. But he is not the one making you have a heavy touch, pick the wrong pass, not show for a teammate etc.
