Yes, the squad is that bad

Not good enough:
Silvestri – decent shot stopper but has nothing else. Would like to see Taylor given a run and organise the defence.
Bellusci – yes, it’s great to have a defender who’ll bring it our from the back but his positioning and temperament stop him meriting a place in the team, for me
Murphy – tidy enough, but would take Mowatt & Bianchi over him. Seems to have about 1 brain cell too.
Billy Sharp – unless we start playing with wingers and two up top, he’s deadwood.
Aidy White – injury prone, lightweight and actually not all that fast.
Berardi – just terrible.
Wooton – has the attributes to be a decent centre back at this level but something seems off mentally.
Tonge – obviously not fussed about playing week in/week out or we’d have been able to get rid by now
Norris – as above
Montenegro – not proven himself yet, as seen from Mowatt & Byram playing wide recently. Holding at hope though.
Doukara – had such high hopes for him, so perhaps I’m being overly critical, but doesn’t use his pace or strength intelligently and not a natural finisher.
Benedicic – what’s going on with this kid?!
Del Fabro – needs more playing time to be fair, but we’ve not seen anything from him yet.

Good enough:
Rudy – inconsistency barely means he makes this list but, on his day, he can tear through any defence in this league
Byram – yes, just needs to work on his positioning at the back
Bianchi – needs to put himself about more but his tackling and passing gets him in the side above Murphy for me.
Pearce – just about good enough, yes. His pace lets him down but is commanding.
Adryan – young & lightweight but looks to get on the ball and seems eager to impress with his obvious skill. We don’t have an option like him and would like to see him kept on, if the money’s right.
Morison – a valuable asset at this level and seems to fancy it more at the moment. Still miss Matt Smith though.
Taylor – showing some good signs, fear for him if he fits a bad run of form.
Cook – let’s hope we can tie him down…
Mowatt – slow, but good left foot, a bit Bradley Johnson like
Cooper – really happy with this signing. Needs more experience but would like to see him there for the foreseeable.
Sloth – obviously talented, hopefully we’ll get more of a chance to see him in this new formation
Antenucci – very happy with him, needs to look up more though
Stuart Taylor – not the long term answer but decent back-up

That means our first team of players who are actually good enough is…

Taylor
Byram Pearce Cooper Taylor
Cook Bianchi
Adryan Rudy Mowatt
Antenucci

Morisson & Sloth subs

Really inexperienced, a very thin squad and lacking in pace. But what we’ll end up with next season is a load of deadwood who are slightly worse than those in the 1st XI above pushing for starts and we’ll fumble to a mid-table finish.
This issue of owners coming in and building massive, average squads has been holding us back for too long and I just can’t see how we’ll get out of it…

Sorry to be a dreary. I think Redders and the youth academy he advocates are great but to become more than a decent championship club that feeds the prem with our best youngsters, we need to look at the likes of Forrest & Bournemouth who’ve looked at what wins you games at this level (pace, direct play, experience at the back), addressed it in the first XI and developed a way of playing week-in/week-out.

Morison has been key in helping us keep the ball in the opp. half, I wouldn't change anything at the moment apart from both full back positions are weak with Taylor and Wootton (hoping Taylor comes on in the next few games).

Morison might not have scored yet, but is getting the chances and getting in the right places, so it will come, we also don't have any other strikers who can play on their own like me does.

H'Gate ...... I'd bet Morison will be a huge player for us in our next match. A local derby is just the thing to appeal to him I guess - especially now he's being accepted and encouraged from the terraces .....

You really can tell, them who go to games and who don't

The talk of getting rid of Morrison is by people who don't go.

If they did go, they'd change their minds

To the remainder of our season, Morison is rapidly proving himself to be far more key/valuable than Warnock - and I liked Warnock.

Finding myself defending Morison on here this morning, which is a shame. The lad may have had issues to start - whether that was bad attitude/confidence/other - who knows? I know he's not scored - but I've warmed to the guy. I can see he works his socks off for the most part, and gets stuck in. Goals will come, let's hope it's against the gypsies from HD1 ....................

VOF

Your only defending him, to people who haven't watched him.

Looks a vital player

I'll put it this way then, you, yes you, are President of LUFC and you get given nearly £11m for Ross McCormack and you have the Steve Morison we have seen to date on your books.

Do you, yes you, keep SM or do you, yes you, think you could go out and get in two strikers for their combined selling price and the savings you have made in wages...?

I personally think I could if I had knowledge of all the possible available players.

That's my point, I think we could do better.

That said, I really do hope he goes out and bags a hat trick on Saturday..!

He might just do that Eric...................we've no opposition this Saturday

I hope he bags a hat-trick
