It's that time again: the dreaded Tuesday evening fixture... (maybe it's not dreaded for you lot, but I have school in the morning and the match goes way past my bedtime )
An update on the results from our victory over Chesterfield: yes, Derby got through to the fifth round, but I also won a personal victory in that my R.S teacher is now contractually bound to wear the mighty black and white scarf around school for the rest of the week. He has also written an article for the Chesterfield programme, which will hopefully be featured next week alongside a photo of him looking suitably depressed whilst wearing said Derby scarf
Blackburn will be feeling confident going into this match after their recent FA Cup victory over Swansea - they will be hungry to beat Derby and put a run of wins together. They are also unbeaten in their last four meetings with Derby - in fact, Derby's last win at home against Blackburn was in the Premier League in 2001
Russell will be missing this evening's game because of a hamstring problem, and Ward is also short of fitness after three months of thigh problems, likely to be replaced by Dawkins
Will Albentosa make a start??
Will Bent replace Russell??
Will the South Stand actually manage to cheer consistently for at least one match?? (Come on lads it's getting embarassing, you're only singing when we're winning )
Team news to follow when I am shivering in the IPro - Moj?
Derby County 2 - 0 Blackburn

We experimented on Saturday to explore whether different option are possible. The back 3 idea didn't seem to work, the diamond did, but Simpson made the point before kick-off last night that the 4-3-3 has served us well overall and that it would probably remain the standard formation because the players are used to it. Changing the way we play might make us worse rather than better, as it did first half on Saturday, so it makes sense to be reasonably cautious. What we do have though is the ability to change within games. I was surprised that we didn't actually go to the diamond last night when Bent came on - Martin remained at the top with Bent and Hendrick moved wide right - but it worked. It just means we have options. Nothing's perfect - if we play 4-4-2 we sacrifice a midfielder which means we could get over-run centrally. I think we could have got mugged playing that way last night and had we gone behind it would have been very difficult. Had we scored first with the 4-3-3, as when Ward had a good chance first half, we may well have picked them off and won comfortably. You can't always predict the way the game is going to go, but you can change depending on circumstances. I thought he might have changed it at half time but maybe he knows what he's doing better than me.

I know it's late and everything that can be said has been said about Tuesday's game, however, what is it with the opposition support always chanting the Bobby Zamora song? Is it supposed to upset us? Yes it hurt at the time but now I am so over it , actually so are everyone else by joining in it seems. What next, worst team in history chants?
