The Last Sub -wtf

Not sure if this has already been covered but was I the only one last night crying out : Nooooooooooooo when Poch made the final sub last night when Rose came on for Mason.

We might have conceded a late goal which would have taken the tie to ET and might have needed a sub then but 1 minute later Vorm went down injured and I was having the wobbles thinking - please no, not Harry Kane in goal again. What was Poch thinking???

Poch should not be making any subs 15 minutes from the end of the game, with Spurs in a winning position. He disrupted the team and let Sheffield United back in the game. I really can never understand why managers have to make subs other than if the team is losing, and it needs freshening up or there is an injury.

I saw in another post about players getting win bonuses as long as they get pitch time - but really this shouldn't be factored into the coach's decision making.

I generally agree with Sandy on this although we were so in control after 75minutes I couldn't see the fightback coming and the coach may see things on the pitch that we don't. However the last sub really worried me. He should be far more intelligent than that.

I suppose he has a better idea than us as to who is fit / can last 90 minutes. Mason hasn't been back from injury that long to be fair.

But I do sort of agree, he makes some very strange ones sometimes.

...and Dembele had taken a knock

Pace and energy to counter a team who were pushing up looking for a goal, particularly at a time when we were looking ponderous and nervous on the ball...same with the Townsend sub.

Made perfect sense. Good sub.

I think he made two bad subs but that wasn't one of them OP.

Fair enough Edin.

But we have seen it before this season when Poch has used all his subs and we are reduced to 10 men following an injury. With the potential for ET I just thought it was a dangerous gamble.

to be fair poch made the sub because of the problems down that side we were susceptible to a goal. davies needed protection.

problem is he realised far too late and arguably nearly threw away the tie both goals came from that direction as did Leicesters.

off topic but that campbell-ryce is a very good player. could do a job for a hull, west ham, etc.

I thought Campbell-Ryce was a lot quieter last night than in the first leg.

What's more interesting LLM is your assessment of the weakness on the LHS. Is Davies that poor or should someone else have been protecting him better?

Agree with this. Davies was supposed to be a good defender but he gets beaten too easily. I was actually waiting for Rose to come on for him .
