John Percy, a usually reliable source, has just tweeted that Robert Huth is joining on loan until end of season.... Thoughts?

Good defender, though hasn't played much lately so not sure about his match fitness. Happy to see him here though

Perfect signing

Certainly a decent player a year or two back. Timing not ideal as Upson is just about back - we could have done with extra options at the back a while ago.
Somebody will be disappointed as they may suddenly become fifth choice (Moore?).

A bit of a 'hard man, pivotal in defence and difficult to beat as I know of him.
He was guilty of one or two crunching tackles in his time at Stoke but should be a real asset in the middle.

^^^ are we proposing to play him and Was and just scaring the opposition into submission?

Good signing. Big, tough, experienced in the Premiership and a lot more exciting a prospect that Matthew Upson.

Watch him sit on the bench for the rest of the season while Upson tries to mark Aguero..

Why are we writing Upson off before he's even played in a City shirt? He's a former England international and apparently did well for Brighton last season - admittedly at a lower level.

Not writing off as such, Joby. Just low expectations based on the fact that he was on a downward trajectory and wasn't good enough for the Premiership when he was last here several seasons ago.

Joby more of a dig at how NP signs players and then tends not to play them for ages, e.g Albrighton.
I accept I'm being harsh on Upson, but at his age I'm not sure he can really improve on what we have. Yes he's an ex england international but so was Carlton Palmer....
