I may be wrong but I got the impression from the press that part of Cellino's defence against the Football League was that Italian justice system was different and he had not officially been found guilty and it could take quite a bit of time until it is official. My question is what if he is subsequently found not guilty, how will he get this "time" back.
Another point is recently in the press I noticed that several high profile figures are subject to a case to do with tax evasion through an off shore scheme. Now some of these figures are sports men (Gerrad for eg), I wonder if any are owners and surely this is dis honesty will they be subject to the same as Cellino. Just a thought, may have been covered before but as I say just a thought!!
Just a thought and I may be wrong but...

"It is true that most appeals are won at the third wage and the Italian court process is based on the idea that you are innocent until you have exhausted all appeals. However, the Football League is English and does not have to stick to Italian law."
English law also says innocent till proven guilty however, just cos the FL is english, does that mean the FL, or the english system gives courts / organisations the right to misinterpret and twist foreign law as they please, and to suit themselves?
Where does it say in the English Judicial system that English courts can change, and disregard other countries laws to suit themselves?
Or, do Countries respect, to a certain extent each others laws?

Cracking down on tax evasion by rich people is exactly what the masses want their countries to do. Getting billions back from the rich reduces the impact of austerity on those less fortunate.
All countries have rules around whether you are a resident or classified as emigrant. Bates would have been hit with big tax demands for most of his income by UK if he had entered UK for more than 90 days in one year. Cellino clearly failed equivalent laws or what laws are in place in relation to Italy.
Cellino then felt he could fight it instead of paying a potentially much smaller amount. Not just one yacht, but another boat and a car! Here is someone who believes he has such income he can purchase large luxury items cheaper than normal people and enjoy flaunting them in the faces of others who have to pay the full amount and contribute to the country's finances.
Such evasion of tax by those most able to pay means those most unable to pay suffer more through higher prices and higher taxes.
Anyone who doesn't understand this and backs the idea that the rich should be able to get away with things thus making life worse for everyone else must be living in a very different world to the rest.

LST..Good luck with that....The rich rule, always have and always will...Take a look at the bankers, just for starters....The rich have the politicians in their pockets...Even politicians have been known to give out British passports for money,to rich businessmen that are shady charecters....That's the real world,no matter if we like it or not...I would bet there is not a single industry, organisation, sport etc, that does not have corruption in it far worse than not paying tax on a yatch. It's no big deal in the grand scheme of things,we just have to accept, the world is not an ideal place. And if your caught or not is the big thing with business and where big money lies....I wish they all would get caught and pay what they should, but it's not going to happen, most are like Bates, they get away with the nasty things, and some even far worse, in life.

^ no way he would have said anything like that before Cellino bought Leeds and this whole fiasco started. Just goes to show how far people can change their morals just to avoid admitting a mistake on a forum.

Kev - you;re right, they do rule. But that is what makes democracies great - there are opportunities to implement laws where the little guy can laugh loudly at the rich guy getting their comeuppance.
Our issue is that this "rich" guy has bought LUFC at a time when he is just getting snaffled by the authorities in his home country. And the FL had just brought in rules to snaffle people who do just this, because experience has shown that these people will screw over the rest of the football world.
It all seems rather bad timing from Cellino.
This is going to go on for years. As soon as his forst yacht issue is out of the way, he will be snaffled by the other yacht. Then by the car.
And he still thinks that fighting the payments instead of paying up is the best way forward. He has not understood the concept of throwing good money after bad. He needs a fresh start where he pays off all his obligations and comes back clean and takes us forward.
Only when that happens can everyone then get behind him and truly claim the FL is up to no good, and we can merely discuss whetehr his way of running the club is how we agree it should be done or not

LeedsLuvr, it has been impounded by the authorities, so assume, it is still moored there!

In a perfect world everyone would pay their tax and Cellino would not have criminal convictions.
However it's not perfect. That's why Greece is in the kaka because nobody pays what they owe in tax. They avoid it at all costs if they can.
We can go over the Cellino case as many times as we want but basically he isn't guilty in Italy yet but is seen to be under our law - and the FL have used the latter to ban him.
Now if he gets off at the next stage it will be very interesting to see how they view the other cases due against him.

Notwithstanding the morality of tax evasion, and by the way, it is really not just the rich who try and get away with tax, they're all at it. It's endemic but being stamped out, but surely Cellino paying the additional tax and a fine on top is enough?
