Can Celtic do a Denmark?

being knocked out at the qualifying stage isn't the handicap that it used to be, don't write the bhoys off yet.

Denmark got into the Euros (1992?)due to some team(yugoslavia?) withdrawing for some reason (civil war?) and went onto win it...

I was referring to Denmark's national team, who failed in the qualifiers for euro 96, then due to a technicality were given a place in the finals. They then went on to win the tournament beating Germany 3-0 in the final.

Will Celtic qualify due to a technicality and then go on to win the Europa league, stranger things have happened!

Do you honestly believe that a team who could not
beat a middle of the road Swiss side, would fare better
against a decent English, Spanish, Italian or German side. You need to lie down in a dark room.

Denmark were totally unprepared, hence the success. So were Celtic as unprepared as Denmark were? Doubt it.

Not sure I`m following athiest, we were as unprepared as it gets, the rest, as they say, is history.

Bluebird

We were prepared, the Danish players weren't.

When Yugoslavia were expelled from the Euro finals that year, many, if not all, of the danish players were recalled to play in the finals.

Under the circumstances, there was no pressure on them to go on and actually do anything in the tourney.

My opinion is that the players were more relaxed than they would be if they'd actually qualified as normal, so went on to win it.

Not anywhere near the same position as the OF tonight, who were prepared and under pressure.

Only my opinion.

Scottish football is in a right mess. Celtic and Rangers are both awful to say their the best in the least competitive league from here to Portugal. They'd both struggle in the English league one never mind the Prem. If you had 20 players on the pitch and a goal the size of a suitcase you'd still lose.

Tony, remember when it was a level playing field, (I don`t) ...Leeds were the top team in England, and came up against both Rangers and Celtic......remind me how the pride of England got on.
