Now this may or may not happen in the summer, who knows.
More interesting are the reports on this in the papers, if they are correct Spurs are in breach of all kinds of Premier League and F.A rules.
Now I'm not naive and obviously clubs talk to players off the record and without current clubs permission all the time, but it's supposed to be secret. If there is any real and verifiable source to this story it will open up the potential of a considerable fine for Spurs.
Reid to Spurs?

Totally agree that a rule treating domestic and international clubs differently is absurd.
However the reports are of more than talks, now either they are pure speculation and Reid is simply seeing what Spurs will offer and could still move anywhere, or they are true and some kind of agreement has been reached. If they are true then rules have clearly been broken.

The rule makes perfect sense for me!
Let's say the rule didn't exist and Reid signed a pre contract with Spurs.
Then he plays for West Ham Vs Spurs next month and scores an OG.
You will then get people looking at it saying it was on purpose etc

The latest on Sky Sports is Distin to WHU and Reid to Everton...on loan I would imagine if there is any truth in it at all

I understand that, it's simply the reports all seem to be saying it's a done deal when contractually it can't be.
I suspect at this moment Reid's agent is contacting Liverpool and Arsenal and going back to West Ham saying.... "look we have this offer from Spurs, what have you got".

yeah yeah
I'd that's true it makes Reid's final destination being Spurs more likely. Unless he were to come out and deny it he could face similar abuse to what Sol used to get.

I agree Sane and Sam Allardyce would have to be mad to let him leave before the end of the season...even if he is annoyed with him not wanting to stay

Reid is a good player, he is one of our three choices for the back two spots at the moment. I'm not convinced he is a higher pick than Tomkins or Collins for me, although five years Collins junior.
I don't think loosing him would much change the level of a first choice eleven, but keeping two centre backs fit and not suspended is hard. Nobody wants to see Joey O' Brien in the centre of the back four, or even on the bench. So another CB would be essential.

why would WHU loan out Reid. He's a free agent in the summer so they either sell him and make money now or keep him and use him becuase he's a regular in the team.

Why would it annoy Spurs if West Ham loan out their best CB, and then pick him up on a free after that?
