Well, after a few hours kip how do we feel.
Dare I say there's an element of hurt pride involved.
Celtic knock at the door and the board capitulates with apparently little fight.
GMS was going for nothing anyway so getting some cash now was probably a good deal.
Other than the two league games against Dundee he hasn't been spectacular and its now up to guys like Connelly, Spittal and Erskine to take his place.
Armstrong, however, does feel like a kick in the teeth.
Not that he's gone, because that was always a possibility, but because the board were adamant that it was £2.5m or nothing doing.
If it's £1.8 as suggested then that for me is a good offer and we were never going to get £2.5.
And if he wanted to go then keeping an unhappy player is never a good idea.
Who can fault a player for wanting to further his career and earning a lot more cash at the same time.
It's easy to have digs at Celtic here. Not a massive club etc.
But they've done nothing wrong by signing two players for a reasonable fee.
What will be interesting is the United board explaining why they caved in on the fee.
Armstrong,GMS - calm after the storm.

Aye, it's still deeply disappointing the events of yesterday. I reckon I'm at stage 4 of the 5 stages of grief at the minute.
Hurt pride is probably the most appropriate statement. I think we all got lured into believing that we were able to hold out and get what we wanted but unfortunately the chairman caved and sold up. I'm awaiting his statement later today.
Everything seems to suggest the players forced it through though, including the chairman's daughter pretty much saying as much on twitter.
The GMS deal I'm not that bothered about. I am gutted about losing Armstrong though.
I'm trying to focus on the positives. McGowan, Dixon, Anier and Muirhead are good acquisitions and certainly defensively we should be improved. Let's not forget three of them are internationals and Muirhead is very highly rated.
Let's hope the youngsters are ready to step up because there are trophies to be won.

certainly would be good to see the team push on and have a run of wins 1 or 2 nil to solidify what has been a shaky period for losing goals
last clean sheet was November against St Mirren

Pretty poor having your chairman lie to you though

it's done, no reason to look back in anger

After my relative calmness last night, I did wake up at about 5 am slightly annoyed, but it's passed now.
Good to see the Arabs on here have calmed down too. Wonder how AK's feeling.

And the end of the day, if the players themselves wanted to move on then its best we let them go. I think its the timing more than anything which makes it hurt the most.
One things for sure though, they'll both be playing for Aberdeen in a few years time

At least the new boy won't be going to Celtic given his tweets from when he was younger
