Threadbare Wanderers

So tonight sees White Hot part 5 down at the Macron and it should be a decent game under the floodlights with a full (hopefully) stadium to cheer the lads on!

For the first time in what seems forever we had a very productive transfer window bringing in 7 players, 4 of which came on the deadline day. These are in addition to Eidur and Heskey who joined in December.

Unfortunately for us tonight none of the new signings (Eidur and Hesk aside) are eligible for tonight as according to FA rules they would have needed to be registered before the first game in order to be able to play in the replay. That, in addition to our ever increasing injury list, leaves Lenny with very few options at his disposal.

Darren Pratley looks like he is set to be out for up to 8 weeks with a hamstring injury which is a massive blow as he is fast becoming a front runner for player of the season. We also loaned out Conor Wilkinson, Jay Spearing, Odelusi and of course Andy Kellett.

Given our lack of striking options im surprised we let Wilkinson go out now instead of waiting for the loan window to re-open. This means we have Eidur and possibly a half fit Craig Davies as our striking options tonight as Heskey is still out injured.

Any way i have total faith that Lenny will get the best out of whoever he plays tonight and who knows we may spring a surprise.

Here is my XI for tonight:

Lonergan

Mills
Wheater
Ream

Feeney
Vela
Danns
Trotter
Moxey

Clough

Gudjohnsen

Subs:
Fitzsimons
McNaughton
Dervite
Walker
Hall
Iliev
C. Davies

Lennon's already said there'll be kids on the bench.

I'd go with pretty much that team as well - there's not much left for surprises though.

My other thought would be to start McNaughton and go 4-4-1-1 keep Moxey at LM and drop Trotter to the bench, then at least we have an option in the middle if we need to freshen it up for extra time should we need it

McNaughton up against anyone faster than an oil tanker is something that terrifies me.

Think it'll be 3 at the back to suit what Liverpool's system is.

Maybe tom eaves will be on the bench. Wilkinson definitely will not be missed. Maybe play mills up front at some stage.

After Bogdan holding the fort in the first match I have a sinking feeling about tonight.
A sinking feeling is something you get in advance of sinking copious amounts of ale to drown your sorrows.

I think we will lose tonight. As the article says we are threadbare.

I would love us to beat Liverpool but if we go out we will have gone out to a decent team, especially as Struridge, is now back in harness.

However, if we do manage to win I will be over the moon. We will see. I'll be watching on ITV and have my lap top on my knee.

We might have a chance with a fully fit squad but can't see us competing with liverpool as it is. Too many key players out. The new signings would have helped but nit one can play. Also sturridge is back

If we'd have caught Liverpool about a month or so ago I'd have said we'd have had a great result. Now, I'm unfortunately going to predict that it'll be game over for us by midway through the second half.
