For a while now there's been a lot of talk of him joining us when he leaves Barca this summer (on a free). He's 31 even though he seems a bit older and still has some dynamism to his play.
I personally want us to bring in Clyne for many reasons this summer but part of me is curious to see how Alves would get on with us in the PL. Does anyone on here want us to get him this summer? Maybe get him and Clyne and rotate them? Instead of having an injury prone Rafael and an awful Valencia as our right back options we could have Clyne and Alves.
Dani Alves

however we can drop our injury prone rb because we have the fantastic antonio valencia
now it makes sense

I dont think we should buy Alves either.

Alves would be available on a free.
As others said though, he'd probably want ridiculous wages and his best years are clearly behind him.
Steer clear imo.

Indeed.
I'm far from Valencia's biggest fan, but he hasn't done badly there at all this season.
Also, I'm yet to hear you're explanation as to why LVG doesn't play our best right back. Is it simply because he is an idiot?

When all other reasons do not explain why he is on the bench (not injury, Valencia is nothing special) and we are trying a converted attacking midfielder there.) it is possible the man is senile. Doubt it? See his explanation as to why he refuses to play our best midfielder hands down.
We have another manager who has his favorites and is killing the team spirit and growth to satisfy his ego/idiocy. And many here continue making excuses for him. Such rubbish.

De Gea
Clyne Jones Hummels Shaw

that is a terrible back line
you knock rafael for being injury prone and want us to spending record breaking sums on a ball playing cb we don't need that has a worse injury record than rafael
jones is also injury prone and no better than rojo/smalling

I couldn't agree more
but at the same time he has done some good things (or maybe my perception has been warped by the traumatic experience of having moyes in charge) so I hesitate to criticise him.

This is the first talk I've heard of him joining is, but I'd jump at the chance if true.

Jones is injury prone because he flies into challenges. If he calms down, which he has, then i think he can develop with a good run of games, which is what is happening now

Jones is crap. Rather see smalling or Rojo in there. Even Evans.

Rafeal has been fit enough to play for nearly a month now. If LVG wanted consistency and if Rafael is too injury prone for his liking he should have stick with Valencia. Valencia has been alright at RB hasnt he? but now he has given up on valencia and hyping up McNair. all the indications suggest that LVG has no idea who he wants to be the first choice RB
in anycase I wont mind if united pay 50m to buy a RB if it means we wont be using 352 again. I dont know who should we get though. I dont get the clyne hype tbh, looks like an above average RB. he is not that young either.
Maybe McNair could become the first choice RB. he has been quite brilliant in last couple of matches
