LVG has spoken about the 'long one' (calm down Jay)...
"We need the guts to play football along the floor. That we have done in the second half," said Van Gaal after the change of tactics brought a 1-1 draw.
"With him (Fellaini) we have more power. With Adnan (Januzaj) and (Angel) Di Maria, we have more creative players. The second ball you cannot always win with these players.
"But you have to win (the ball), otherwise I have to line up always (with) players like Fellaini."
Put me back in the LVG in camp.
Fellaini to play more regularly?

I don't buy into the theory he needs to be shouting from the sidelines. Surely if he gives them instructions before the game, they haven't forgotten by the 20th fecking minute.

It's a pick-me-up. Everyone naturally slacks off a bit, but (like scoring a goal) something can pick the tempo and urgency up a bit, it also rattles the opponents. SAF said about it in his book

With Carrick, Blind and Herrera in the same midfield we would be winning lot more of the ball.

In theory. In theory communism works. In theory.

Depends who is running the communist state, Che Guevara or Stalin.
(I'm not turning this political but had to use that analogy)
LVG needs to start doing the obvious thing.
Carrick, Blind and Herrera are obviously our most talented central midfielders and should be used before Fellaini (who has his uses).
Rooney should return to being a forward and Di Maria a winger.

Yeah I get the motivation, but if he wants to analyse from afar, get your Mike Phelan to do it.

The amount of ball we have isn't usually the issue, it's the use of it.
Though I think they would use the ball better with a lone striker and two wingers either side. It means dropping two of Rooney, RVP and Falcao, which I don't see happening this season. It also means relying on Januzaj, who has been awful.
------------------------DDG------------------------
Valencia-------Jones------Rojo--------Shaw
------------------Blind-----Carrick---------------
----------------------Herrera---------------------
------Di Maria-------Rooney-----------Januzaj
I'd like to put Rafael in there but he's unreliable.
If you then bring in a good centre back, right back and central midfielder, as well as making changes to the dynamics in our attack (bring in a quick striker, use Wilson, don't sign Falcao) then we could be onto something.
It's not always as simple as change a few players and suddenly we play nice football though. Kawaga and Nani proved that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rafael and Valencia in the right back spot is a question mark but for me the team you have put above is the most solid and balanced team we have.

True. We'd never get away with 12 players.
And two right backs would give a dreadful balance to the team.

I think LVG has said previously that he has given his team instructions over 2/3 days training and doesn't need to tell them anything within the space of 45 minutes. If he makes changes he does so at half time.
I'd like to see his stand up and shout at the players Fergie style to be honest. We don't even see Giggs off his chair though.

I was kidding. Using a Simpsons quote. The 'in theory' bit was me referring to LVG not choosing to use those guys even though most agree it would be good.

Wasn't it Capello who would sometimes stay glued to his seat and when Stuart Pearce got up to shout at the players Capello wedged his hand onto Pearce's thigh and forced him to sit down?
I kind of imagine that's how the LVG/Giggs relationship goes.

That one went straight over my head.
Glad to see I'm not going mad though and that they are the obvious best trio.
