Sanogo injured for Palace. He put up a valiant fight, but the curse will remain with him whichever club he plays for.

Doesn't have a future with us anyway. His long term injury record will be the problem of a midtable Ligue 1 team like St Ettiene or Lorient. Not ours

Wenger has made some real stinkers. I don't consider Sanogo even the worst French purchase Wenger has made, let's wait a little while longer before judging a young striker who has shown some limited talent, but has not yet justified the faith the manager has shown.

It was the timing of the signing that really added insult to injury. Instant pressure on a lad with a bit of talent and an awful injury record.

That last sentence is pretty much applicable to half of our squad, young talented players put under too much pressure, and suffer from injury problems.

Sanogo was incredibly injury prone before coming to us so it's a little different.
Also I just don't think he has the talent either.
A big, strong, beast youngster will always do well at a low level but technique is needed on top of that - and this is far harder to gain.
Whereas a youngster with great technique and small build can beef up.

I'll put my hands up and admit I had no clue who he was before he actually played for the first time. I was hearing Aneke/Akpom/Afobe for a few years, but this Sanogo guy just jumped in from nowhere, so if he did have injury issues from France, I defer to your knowledge.
I don't know, he is just one of those players who looks ridiculously clumsy in every single aspect, but when you watch him closely, he does everything except score. He can do link up play, can chest and control, can turn, can make runs, and can hold up the ball. I personally think he has been unlucky not to score, with some of his shots just having ridiculous saves like against Bayern.
I don't know about that, I hesitate to say this because morons will misinterpret it, but take Kane as a similar example. Spurs fans thought he was an awful reserve/cup player who was sent out on loan because he wasn't good enough. Now he is arguably the most devastating striker in the league (for now), and he is still incredibly young. No-one predicted him to grow and shine to this extent, but he managed it. I am NOT saying Sanogo is like Kane, but I am saying it is not impossible for him to just...click, like Kane did.

What did the scouts see in Sanogo ?
We knew he was very injury prone, so I was expecting him to be good, but he was frankly very poor.
I hope he improves and proves me wrong but right now I am thinking that anybody can be a scout

Ah yeah of course he could become a decent player but it's very unlikely and I'm almost certain he won't ever become good enough for a top four club.

To this day I still cannot believe we signed him. As someone's said above, it has to have been a vanity signing. What other established manager would go for a injury prone French striker from the second tier of France's football? We should have done so much better, he wasn't needed.
