Will this fight happen?
Rigondeaux called out Santa Cruz calling him a "little Mexican girl" saying he needed "permission from his daddy" to fight him
But does Leo actually want the fight? Rumour is Haymon has the power to veto any opponent on his fighters contracts and that's why Golden Boy are dropping Haymon fighters. If Leo took the fight then he'd be liable to be sued over breach of contract, so can he be blamed? Haymon is more interested in keeping his fighters marketable than making the big (risky) fights.
If Santa Cruz lost to Rigo, which I think he would, then his status as an undefeated "rising star" and WBC Champion goes and his value and marketability plummet. Rigo would be the big draw in the division and Haymon would have to risk more fighters against him to regain his position in that market.
Haymon wants to make consistent money from average fights rather than making the big ones and it's killing boxing

Yeah, Haymon doesn't want the fight to happen, but neither does Santa Cruz.
It is killing boxing.
I have warned about it for years. Haymon is from the music industry where the music isn't as important as selling the product the star and people buy the product on the star and that is it.
He has taking this format to boxing, and unfortunately it seems to be making him money, so he not going to stop using this format.
But the fans will ultimately lose out, but the truth is the fans are the ones to blame.

Definitely. Fans need to stay away from his fights, but he's a smart guy.
He's going to put some boxing back on mainstream TV rather than PPV so will need decent cards to draw the fans in and then he can show those numbers to the advertisers. But he'll protect his champions and revert to the usual bum of the month fights as soon as he gets the position and contracts he's angling for

Frampton or Quigg need to step up and fight Rigo as well.

Frampton's saying he wants the Rigo fight. Should be Frampton v Quigg first and the winner fights Rigo.

Santa Cruz is definitely ducking Rigo, just wonder if he's been told to by Haymon rather than being scared.
