The future is looking bright!

I was just reading the team news for the St Johnstone game and at the end it lists the squad. Now with all the doom and gloom surrounding Scottish football and with many of the regulars on here slating PH and JD in particular following the defeat to the Pars I think United fans should remain positive.

Firstly I feel we have some very good footballers at our club like Russell, Swanson, Dixon, Rankin, Flood but to name a few. I also feel that the team is still relatively young and as supporters of United we need to take a step back and realise that we have been punching above our weight over the last few seasons.
Secondly I feel that we do have a good manager in Peter Houston and I admit that at times he picks the wrong team and can deploy the wrong tactics also but we need to remember back to previous managers and the really tough times that United had.

Anyway, lets all get behind the team this weekend including PH & JD. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways against the Saints!

Not looking forward to facing Fran as I always rated him when fit at United and as Gallagher proved last week, past players usually come back to haunt you.

The future's bright, the future's tangerine!

I agree that we have some very good players - that's why I feel Houston is doing a sub-par job. With the players we've got I'd expect us to be beating Killie, St. Mirren Dunfermline, Slask and putting up a bit more of a fight against Celtic - but we're not, and that's because our good players are being hamstrung by poor tactics. If you want an example, just look at the difference between the Messi that plays for Argentina and the one that plays for Barcelona, even he can't make up for poor tactics!

I dislike the attitude of "We should be happy because we're doing better than a club of our size should" - awfully negative. The stature of our club is irrelevant if we have players good enough to compete at the top end, which we definitely do at the moment.

Hopefully we will see that JD just had an awful day last weekend. When he's on form he can be very good.

And we always, always beat the Super J's!

The funniest thing about him supporting 3 teams - United have won a trophy more recently than all of them!

I understand what you are talking about regarding my comment about us punching above our weight Hobo. However, I am not saying that I expect us to go back to the old United where we were fighting relegation. I expect United to be top six. I don't expect them to be top four every season and making finals. We will be beaten by teams that are lower down in the league but we are losing by not getting the break of the ball at times. I was at Celtic Park the other week and United really came out and had a go at Celtic second half. Houston played two up front and if we got the equalizing goal for two each then who knows. We lost 5-1 and people say it was a hammering. Zaluska got man of the match. Houston should be praised for having a go in Glasgow. I enjoyed watching an open game where United tried to win the game rather than sit behind the ball and play for a one nil defeat.

I have faith in Peter Houston and I like Jon Daly as a player. I believe that GMS will become a better player than Craig Conway in the future.

chuckyboy says 'without conway putting in great crosses how many goals will he score this season'....

I take it you werent at the game last week when Dixon put in at least 5 superb crosses into the box and Captain Marvel JD was nowhere to be seen.

You might want to re-think that rather brash statement !!
