Super's Match Report-Bournemouth - 6 Points

I have just got back and it is getting late so I promise that this report will be a lot shorter then the one on Saturday (well I hope it is anyway)

To start with isn't it just nice to be winning again? The sensation of actually looking forward to a football game seems to be creeping on rather then at the end of Pearce's reign where we began to dread what the score would be. 3 Wins in a row at home is always nice as well and I am glad to hear the Forest fans cheering a lot more then the away fans do again (on that point the Borunemouth fans mearswell not have been there with the noise they made)

Anyway I am going off on one so time to turn my attention to the game. An unchanged side which was to be expected and Forest confidence was high but Bournemouth were desperate for the win. Forest started and Bournemouth immediately attacked. Their quick and slick passing play for the first 10 minutes was so good that Forest looked like they would crumble. In fact after 2 minutes this looked like it may just happen with a short corner coming to Surman who scored a great goal pass Darlow. Up to 10 minutes Forest were still Shakey and the defence was finding it hard to deal with the Borunemouth attack who used the wings well and cut into the box causing havoc.

However after 10 minutes Forest slowly, but surely started to get themselves more into the game. We started to gain more possession and passed the ball between the players. We started to make some attacks and started to pose a danger to Borunemouth. So much so that after a sustained amount of pressure Bournemouth caved in after a number of corners was finally swung in by Osbourn and the melee that followed meant that the ball finally put the ball to Lascelles who slotted in the ball into the Bournemouth goal to make it 1-1.

So the comeback again was on and even though Bournemouth responded well, Forest were certainly in the game and as the end of the half approched Forest started to get on top. The play of Lansbury, Gardner and Osborn allowed Forest to springboard itself into attack with Antonio, Burke and Blackstock and the defence remained strong with Fox and Lichaj Stopping the wingers that Bournemouth so clearly loved.

On the 44th Minute we won a freekick on the edge of the box and Lansbury curled a beauty pass Boruc into the Borunemouth goal and Forest were 2-1 up and that was pretty much half time.

2nd half, Bournemouth naturally came onto the attack and I know I am summing this up but Forest seemed to enjoy this. Our Defence actually stood strong. yes Bouremouth did make attacks but looking back none of them really threatened Darlow except one glancing header. Collins and Lascelles kept Wilson quiet (even when he made a dive Tom Daley would have been proud of in an attempt to win a penalty) Fox and especially Lichaj who found himself 2 against 1 many a time as well kept the wingers quiet.

Again from this this allowed, Gardner Lansbury and osbourn to start each attack with Lansbury especially at his best so that as the half progressed it was Forest who, even though they have made less actual attacks actually made the more dangerous attacks with Blackstock having a header off the line and Veldwijk causing all sorts of trouble when he came on to the Borunemouth defence meaning that if anyone was going to score in the half, it was most likely going to be Forest.

Anyway skipping over quickly Forest remained comfortable and won and the Dougie revival continues and is especially important in this game as it shows we can compete and beat the teams and the top of the division. We are still 12 points behind but all we can do is take each game at a time and look after ourselves and hope that other teams in the top 6 do not.

Man of the match IMO is a close one again. Lansbury played magnificently well and I can see why he was voted MOM at the game. However mine would actually be Lichaj who stood up strong in the game and coped well even when he found that he was on his own against 2 Bournemouth players. This I believe was crucial into us winning the game as if they had been allowed to get through on the wing then inevitably one of the shots would have gone in.

Anyway to sum up it was another good win for Dougie, another good win at home for Forest all in all leading to Forest gaining 6 points against Bournemouth.. All we can hope for now is that the revival continues and the footballing standard keep improving and you never know where that may take us by the end of the season.

Just sent the highlights. Quality goals all three in their own ways. Great dipping effort from Surman. Shouldn't get that much space from a corner, though. Nice to see Lascelles looking positive at Forest set pieces and Lansbury's free kick had a touch of Ian Woan about it. Radio Nott'm had mentioned a number of times that they thought the Ref was very lenient. Only showed the Lichaj tackle and I have to say it looked a straight red. Nowhere near the ball and quite a robust challenge! Only the Ref knows why he didn't give it but I think Forest got very lucky there and we will take it all day!

Credit where credit is due. Everyone held their breath and wondered whether DF could inspire Forest against a more accomplished team and he passed this test well. He has coaxed Forest out of their shell and tightly deserves all the praise he is getting. Can't go overboard with praise, though, as these players have still shortchanged the fans so far this season and still have some making up to do.

On the radio it also sounded like the ref evened it up for not sending Lichaj off by not booking 2 or 3 of their players after bad tackles.

'Twas a good game. If never say Bournemouth were any good. In the first 10 minutes forest didn't understand basic marking and any team would have scored against us giving them that much space.

That and all their play came from their wingers as Burke and Antonio played pretty central and left room, even then they struggled to craft clear chances when fox and lichaj were constantly up against 2-vs-1s (motm IMO as lichaj and fox was a close second though)

Anyway, enough being critical. After the first ten minutes out set piece defending improved, our set piece taking deffinately improved (2 goals) and every time we went forward we a looked capable of scoring.

Very different game but still, Bournemouth are surposabley a good side, and that was pretty comfortable.

Maybe. Didn't show any of there fouls on the highlights I saw but none of their fouls provoked the same "OOOF!" reaction from Fray and Laws on RN that Lichaj's one did. Might have looked different at ground level but I don't think there is a Red who can look at the replay and not say he was massively fortunate to stay on! Glad anyway as red cards often ruin games as a spectacle. I would like to see Football look to Rugby and look at 10 minute sin bins. Have watched a bit of the Six Nations this year and that has looked like it has worked well.

The ref was odd last night. He seemed to pick up on everything that forest did but not Bournemouth at the start but yet as has been pointed out missed out the lichaj tackle even though I think it would have been harsh to place it as a red, even though it was certainly a yellow.

Wasn't as bad as that Matic tackle but it was late and brutal!!

I'm old school and all for letting the winger know you are there but times have changed unfortunately.

Lansbury was lucky not to connect with a Bournemouth player on a run otherwise that would have been a red.

However forest were hacked down a few times themselves when they would have been 1 on 1 but yet he in,y gave a foul for them as well.

I suppose Refs are damned if they do and dammed if they don't. If rather have 11 v 11 and the best team wins every day of the week.
