Ivan Calero

Ivan Calero has returned to Derby.

I shall be polite and thank him for his contribution. I am neither surprised nor disappointed by this news.

If anyone wants a more frank assessment of his time at the club (my opinion) I am willing to provide it.

I thought he was absolutely atrocious. Passing, crossing, shooting, tackling, heading, tracking back, marking - you name it.

It was with utter disbelief at what I saw. A pedigree that sees him play in the Atletico Madrid second team and playing and scoring goals for the Spanish U16-U19 teams. A Derby County player. Are we quite sure that we got the player with this CV and not someone masquerading as him?

The only thing I can think is that League 2 was not for his type. Playing with better footballers, a better football standard and on better pitches might be more for him.

It might be that our players didn't read what he was trying to do and thus his passes were made to look as bad they seemed.

You make some very good points my friend and if we get the wrath of our friends down the road so be it.

I got some funny looks off folk around me when I criticised him for his lack of skill and reading of the game.To me he wont make it in this country to light and not enough ability.

Thanks for having the courage to speak up my friend and I am 100% behind what you have said.

We can only write about what we saw and give our opinion based on that Mr Emnez.

The air of anticipation and expectation when he stepped foot on the pitch for the first time was palpable. By the time the Newport game had arrived that had totally evaporated and that was equally palpable.

He will probably go on to great things in the game. He is only young. It is probably League 2 that was the problem. That is a league like no other. Players get no time on the ball and it is a league full of no nonsense hardened professionals.

Blimey, very surprised to hear this. He's very highly rated at Derby.

I can only put it down to the standard of pitches
