In 2013 / 2014 Rochdale in 3rd place got 81 points (Fleetwood in 4th got 76).
In 2012 / 2013 Port Vale in 3rd place got 78 points (We were 4th with 76).
In 2011 / 2012 Crawley in 3rd place got 84 points (Southend in 4th got 83).
In 2010 2011 Wycombe in 3rd place got 80 points (Shrewsbury in 4th got 79).
In 2009 / 2010 Rochdale in 3rd place got 82 points (Morecambe in 4th got 73).
I am expecting 80 points is the target. That's 16 points we need or 5 wins, a draw and 6 defeats. That 5-1-6 scenario is fairly poor form but it would be enough for automatic promotion I predict.
The home games against Wycombe and Southend might be pivotal. If we manage not to lose either that will be important.
Your thoughts?

The Brewers need to kick on now, I would agree that 80 points might be enough. If 4th, 5th and 6th in the league have a blip of form, 78 might be enough.
I am sure this roller coaster ride has a few more ups and downs yet.
If we get 3 wins from the next 6 games, then we will be well on course to going up. The dream for me would be a good run of form, like 5 to 6 wins and we can start to plan for league 1 football.

...and enjoy and relax watching football again. I am a bag of nerves now.

My team were promoted from League 2 in 2006/07 in third place with 85 points, fourth were the Franchise with 84. We did better in 2010/11 winning the league with 95 points (much less stress!) under the manic Di Canio (huge stress). Southend were fourth with 83.
I think you need a target of 85 points to be sure and I've no doubt that you'll get them.

Looking at our remaining fixtures i did my own predictions and think we will win 4 draw 4 and lose 4 , narrowly gaining promotion in third place with just enough points . I expect Shrewsbury to be champions , with Wycombe as the other automatic team . As for the play off winners my dark horses are Northampton .
