Brilliant win for Isner, huge confidence boost and great to see him dictating play with consistently good shot selection.
Could be a massive year for Ward.
Well done GB!

Hi everybody concerned with this tennis thread, I don't know how to create an article so if anyone can enlighten me I'd like to know, one thing I have always been interested in about Andy Murray is that he has now achieved pretty much everything he needs to in the game that he wanted to, e.g 1st major when he handled a comeback from arguably the best player in the world presently to win when it would have been easier to cave in as per the general british mentality goes when competing as an individual with the pressure that someone such as he has had to deal with in this country media wise over the years previous as the next big thing in his particular sport, then he wins the big one Wimbledon not been won by a brit for over 70 years, also during this time beating both Djokovic and Federer on this surface to win the gold for Britain at the Olympics, now he says, or he has always said that what is important to him now is to just keep concentrating on winning more majors but not to be too concerned with being NO1 in the rankings, now I can appreciate that it is more important to win more majors but if a fake Djokovic injury distracts him from doing what his current goals are why not just concentrate on being No1 and make that his goal, yes I know that's not easy but lets be positive here, surely he is smart enough to know that if he becomes by the end of the calendar year NO1 in the world there's a good chance he will have done this by winning a grand slam along the way, you could end up No1 by just winning plenty of Masters events through the year, but I would say that chances are you probably would have bagged at least one major during that year to get to that No1 position, and therefore you have killed two birds with one stone, won one more major at least and have that World's No1 accolade as a bonus, makes sense to me don't know about you lot, please comment.

The clay court season is the biggest thing that holds him back from being number 1 in the world.
I think though that's a mentality issue as he reached the semis in the French when he was in his poor form last year.
It will be interesting to see how he gets on this year now that he knows he is fit and doesn't have to worry about the rotation in shots hurting his back.
Will also be interesting to see how Nadal gets on this clay court season. He's in danger of dropping out the top 4. Imagine him being seed 5 at the French and meeting Djokovic in the quarters. Would be tasty.

Also meant to say Murray doesn't have a lot of points to defend if he matched his semi in the French until after the U.S. Open. That's due to his form last year and early exits at Wimbledon and U.S. Open. Should he win Miami, defend his French points, have an improved Clay Court season and possibly win Wimbledon and the U.S. Open he wouldn't be too far off number 1 ranking.
He has the attributes so should be aiming for that as his next goal.

I think the goal is always to win slams and masters first, then number 1 ranking comes with that rather than aim for the ranking.

Murray has not achieved much.
