The big day is here.
My boy Keith Thurman makes his step up today, taking on Robert Guerrero to prove he's for real.
On the undercard you've got Adrien 'About Burgers' Broner, who failed to make weight yesterday, fighting hard hitting John Molina.
Mares will open up the card, taking on Arturo Reyes, as he looks to continue his comeback from the Gonzalez KO loss. He will likely fight Santa Chicken later on in the year

Late to comment on this but a few observations:
The walk-ins as everybody already has already said - sucked . it looked like a set from the voice, mixed in with a crappy WWE entrance. I think they should jazz it up; at the very least use different themes than the introductory hans zimmer theme for the show..
The hans zimmer theme rules btw..
anyway the Molina fight was a complete drag - all molina's fault though; he was stagnant and just stood there to be punched for 12 rounds. Broner fought on his bicycle though and was wayyy toned down in the post-fight interview.
The Thurman/Guerrero fight was pretty good, but Guerrero couldn't land a jab and basically solidified his status as being taylor-made for slick boxers. Will be interesting to see where Thurman goes next...
The commentary (at least NBCs) was pretty bad.. I hope sugar ray Leonard gets more knowledge as he does future broadcasts, because neither he nor layla ali nor Marv Albert did a good job.. i think they need a third analyst to help them out, or to at least carry them.
All and all I think NBC influenced a lot of the production, which is why it was the way that it was.. it's unfortunate because I think boxing has always had a special type of presentation from the ring-entrance to the commentary, and NBC kind of botched it.. that said it's good to see it on terestrial TV for free

Are you in America?

How was the boxing received by the wider public. It was meant to do quite well with the youth democratic, maybe that is why they went for an X-Factor feel to the show.

hard to say really.. I think I repeated the main complaints, but the viewership ratings was something like 3 million, which is 3x higher than your avg showbox or hbo presentation..
I saw one person like the setup as it was more acceptable by the public, instead of seeing boxers show their a/ss, but that kind of fanfare is what I've always liked about boxing..
Ultimately my concern is the glut of boxing we're going to get.. we now have like two boxing programs per week that I know of, with the weekend bouts on top of that. I hope it raises interest ultimately, but it might work against it

Oh yeah, the 18-34 yr old (or whatever the range is) demographic got like 1 million viewers or something, which is promising

Seemed on a bit earlier as well, Primetime?
You think they need some new commentators though?
SRL and Lalia Ali just seem like some big names rather than good commentators

I personally didn't like the set up. I do like the roaring crowd, boxers making an extravagant entrance to the ring and all the other pre-fight pageantry.
No ring girls as well.
I also heard they stopped Thruman showing his belt.
How long till we see PBC belts.

I think Marv Albert was the worst - he is lead commentator and he was just poor.. I reckon Boxing commentary is one of the most difficult to do so i give them a pass..
a PBC belt would suck, but I guess Al can do whatever he wants
Yup the walk-ins have always been part of the epicness of boxing, but I can understand why NBC would want to cut it out..
I think NBC made some demands on the production, otherwise it would be more like what you'd normally see

I didn't like the set up, you have to have the proper ring walks/announcers etc. This isn't a concert.
As long as they keep making competitive fights I won't care much but it's something they should look to change.
