Well, to be fair, that is standard Press code for "the player said, off the record".

(But I'd be amazed if he really said it, it wouldn't exactly endear him to the home fans, and players aren't usually as careless as that)

This sounds like his agent trying to find a club that will take him.
Can't see any of the top tier clubs taking him so Liverpool could get him.
