Our season needs to start today! A good victory midweek should give the lads a bit of confidence going into this one and let's hope we can grab the 3 points. I'd like to see us go for the win but I think we all know it's gonna be 4-5-1. Having a bit of a Neville dilemma at the moment. I honestly think Hibbo is a better player. Defensively it's no question, plus Hibbo can cross a ball. Sick to death of Nev's chipped, useless crosses.
Another concern again involves crosses and set-pieces in general. We have Leighton Baines in our team. Arguably the best and most consistent crosser in the league...and he has to share corners and free-kicks with Arteta...who is fecking useless most of the time.
Really like Sylvan Distin but for me, JH showed on Wed why he is the better player. He can spray the ball about beautifully and turn defence into attack.
Anyway, COYB let's have a win!

i'd expect 4-5-1 today, hopefully we get an early goal and settle down. i'm convinced we can still finish at least 7th this season. COYB

We were discussing this on Wednesday. Hibbert to me should be first choice right back. His crossing has imrovred greatly and are so much more dangerous than Neville and his floaters (pun intended).
Hibbert also a better defender. The only thing I can see Neveille brings is his leadership. Not sure where to play Neville. Dont want him in midfield and he is not our best right back.
Agree again with Johnny. The number 1 ranked team in the world plays him at center back. That is his position. For me it is a toss up between the three of him Jags and Distan as to who should be dropped.
We discussed tactics and one we would love to see is 3 5 2 with wing backs
johnny jags distan
nev/hib/coleman fellaini arteta/rodwell baines
cahill/barkly/osman/bily
saha beckford/vic
Worth a shot and suiots our club better. Beckford is not a loan forward and we have 3 very good center backs. Weak side may be right back and nev/hib playing wingback but worth a shot. We have no wide midfielders so why play a formation that needs them.

i wouldn't play that system unless we had Coleman fit to play right mid in front of either Hibbo or Pip. this would give a better balance between defence and attack on the right.
