The Saints midfield.

Looking at the Saints midfield bossing the Chelsea one today (and throughout the season they've been great), it is abundantly clear that this summer we really need to get players in of that ilk.

It's not like these are cliched 'world class' midfielders. One is Wanyama of footballing powerhouses Kenya and the other is Schneiderlin who got his education in league 1 with Saints!

We need players with power and who aren't afraid to get in people's faces. The Saints midfield has that. We need that. Who are these players who match up to those exact standards?

TBF yesterday I was complaining about the lack of entertaining games this season in the PL, this game so far has been great.

Mane is impressing me a lot in this game.

Wanyama is another who has impressed me consistently - watched him for Celtic a couple of times and you could see the makings of a good player. That said, I think Southampton was a good next step for him.

Schneiderlin and Clyne should be near the top of our shopping list this summer

Mane has been great. A yellow card magnet as people can't live with him.

If Chelsea lose this I wouldn't put it past one of Arsenal or Liverpool to be in with a shout of the title.

Schneiderlin for me is the one player I would take more than any other from Saints. Clyne and Wanyama are also very good and would improve us.

I think Mane much like Tadic has great ability but can be very inconsistent and frustrating to watch. Elia has gone off the boil since his loan but Saints fans are really impressed with Duricic.

mu82, Alderweireld was hardly an Atletico regular. Only really got starts through rotation or injuries. 10 starts in La Liga, 5 in the cup, 3 in the CL.

scholayScholes, you'e right, Barça were out of sorts. They'd only won 11 straight going into the Málaga game.

Yeah you're right but still odd to loan out a player after 1 season, I wonder if his supposed self harming is a reason?

Impossible to say of course, but tbh he didn't really impress anyone over here. Might just have thought that they were better off getting someone else to pay his wages rather than have him as 4th choice CB, sitting on his backside, costing them money and losing market value.
