"Well the truth is Herbie that he hardly got balls in the box second half. Our crosses really couldnt reach him"

I agree, GT. But the need to be fairly incisive and direct I think was the problem latterly. In that situation, I don't think Giroud's skill set is really required. I also think he was absolutely knackered from the admirable pressing he'd been doing and when the ball did come to him, it just wasn't sticking.
No criticism for him tonight from me, he actually did very well, I just think he should have been the one to make way in order to give Monaco a reason to drop even further than they were. This would have allowed Ramsey more space to run into from the middle third and given Walcott a chance as he would not have been doubled up on with Welbeck's pace still a factor.

You never know with Giroud, Herbie.....One good cross and the ball is in. Not happened in the second half enough for my taste.
On the other hand my impression was that Sanchez should have gone off instead of Danny Welbeck because he lost too many balls and couldnt pass defenders.

Plus we weren't utilising Walcott well.

Fair point; however, you know even in desperation mode, we're never gonna just fling it in the box with any real certainty. Should have done, because Giroud could certainly make something happen in that instance, but we're just never going to and when we do, our crosses are terrible.
Fair point on Sanchez too; he was abysmal tonight, the worst player on the pitch from either side. Completely unrecognizable at the moment he is.

They were knackered; too shattered to use a flyer like that correctly amid a sea of bodies. It's why I think Welbeck should have been kept on as it would have forced them back even further and opened space between the lines for Ozil and Cazorla to have a clearer picture of the space around their targets. Would have allowed Ramsey to ghost too.

CL is looking better especially now that there are NO PL teams competing in it.
Citizens have got no chance vs Barca tomorrow.
It would be a dream come true if Top 4 became Top 3.
Or better still only the winners qualify
