New formation if no strikers for Wolves

I've not posted on here for a long time, especially about Derby but this is the first time all season I have lost belief that this will be our year to go up. I still haven't lost all hope but have resigned myself to think if this is the year we will require another expensive day at Wembley.

My biggest worry is we have tried over the last 4 (include Wolves and it will be 5) games to get to the international break and get everyone fit. However with games against Watford, Wigan and Brentford (all fighting for something) after the break I can hear the excuses now, 'It will take a few games for these players to get match fit with the number of games they have missed' and before you know it we have 4 games to scrape into the playoffs. I have noticed the under 21's have games in the break on the 23rd and 31st March and I just hope one or two of the players get game time in these games (maybe arrange a behind closed doors game between the two games) and things will just click back in to place come the Watford game.

My biggest issue is why we didn't bring someone in when we lost Martin, Bent was more than good enough to fill the gap but then who became his cover. When we lost Bent I thought, it can't be long until Martin is back fit, yet here we are now 4 games with no recognized forward (and the result, 2pts in them 4 games, including winnable games against Brighton and Birmingham).

Surely if we have no Martin or Bent for Wolves, then the formation has to change, as teams this season have worked out how to play against our 4-5-1 and our 4-5-1 doesn't really work without Martin. I like Russel but cant wait to see him back out wide but for now needs help up top. Maybe a 4-4-2 with one of Ince or Ward pushed up top to help Russell and one of Dawkins or Lingard in for Hanson (which would be unfair for me as he has played well but its for the shape of the team) or go 3-5-2 and bring Dawkins or Lingard in for Chrisitie and keep Hanson (unless Thorne is fit). I liked the idea when we played 3-5-2 against Chesterfield in the first half of the cup but we played the wrong players for the system and it looked more like a 5-3-2 for half an hour as the full backs didn't push forward enough (ideally the system need wingers who push back when not in possession of the ball, or full back who go bombing forward without worrying about if they can get back in time if we lose the ball).

This may not be the answer but I think it worth a try, teams know how we play and train to stop us, it would be a shocked to find we have made a change and hopefully catch them out before they can change things.

Come on Derby, see it as one big game before the break rather than one more game and we will have everybody back.

What happens if we don't go up?

Another season in the Championship, I've already got my season ticket and that's much better value for money.

Very true iwas - more games, more goals, more wins, more drama... what's not to like!

I agree, I must be getting old! The Prem is great for the shareholders and the players (and agents) and if you like being mentioned on MotD (when they aren't spoting on about ManU, Chélski, Liverpool, et al, but for excitement, we are in the best division.

Who can afford Prem ticket prices anyway? I'm getting priced out of it as it is in the Championship.

Stevie Mc: "Eustace, no chance. Martin, no chance. It's a debate whether we take a risk on Bent or Thorne".

So none of them are playing.

Omar is out for the season, too.

On the plus side, Hanson does not seem out of his depth
