And misses out Liverpool from his list of clubs who have a defined path from Acadamies to first team.
Of the sides he mentions Southampton have the best success rate in recent years and United are living on the class of 92 still. Villa, Liverpool and Everton have had some success in the past few years
Neville makes a mistake....

Standing on the runway we stare at the hulking mass of Mount Suribachi four miles (7km) away on the southern tip of the island. In 1945 it was a Japanese fortress, a warren of tunnels, bunkers and gun emplacements.

You cant say Sterling is a QPR signing when he left them at 15?

He was signed from QPR. So would you say he isn't a signing

Sorry, product. QPR product.

I'm not sure who can take credit for him/his development. But he was signed from QPR.
Did he just have his talent nurtured at QPR, Liverpool and Rodgers reap the benefits.
Or was his talent added to at QPR with tactical awareness and game management and grown at Liverpool?

No matter how much talent a player has at 15 years of age they will need even more nurturing than before if they are to make it to the top.

You think?
How much nurturing do you think Pele and Best had.....
Just raw football talent is always going to rise to the top.

There are always exceptions, but then there are many players with abundant talent who have not made the grade.
In my opinion I don't think Sterling would be the player he is right now if he is still at QPR. In the same way John Stones isn't the same defender if he is still at Barnesly, Jordan Ibe isn't on the cusp of great things if he is still at Wycombe, Luke Garbutt isn't close to an England call up(in my opinion) if he is still at Leeds. I would say the experience all those players got at Everton and Liverpool from 16 onwards are just as important, if not more so, than their years at their original clubs.

claiming you develop players is just arrogance and ego
Liverpool had nothing to do with 'developing' Owen and Fowler
United had nothing to do with 'developing' Giggs and Ronaldo
back in 91/92 Fergie told a mate he was sitting on a goldmine, not that he was going to turn lead into gold
players are born, not made
