Is he scared?

Hello ladies and gentlemen.

So I've just read this article on the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32078303.

On the surface it looks like a pretty standard message from a captain trying to protect his younger players.

However I feel in this case if you read between the lines what is apparent is this is Rooney fearing that his time with the three lions on his chest may be very limited.

Hodgson showed at the World Cup how he doesn't see Rooney as the main man up top and in my opinion this was correct.

Sturridge, Welbeck, Kane...these players should be ahead of him and I think he knows it.

He's basically issuing this statement to remind people he is still there. He doesn't want to be forgotten and his last defence for keeping his place in the team is to remind everyone the kid is still young and shouldn't have the pressure put on him.

I'm pretty sure good old Wazza will be knocking on Hodgson's door and suggesting Kane starts on the bench.

I think it's probably time Rooney is told his place in this England squad and that place is behind Sturridge and Kane.

The trouble is the mans ego may get in the way...if he was really passionate about the team he'd do the right thing and step out of the way and let the new boys through.

I thought I made that quite clear.

Clearly not

............

That was my error. I made an assumption I was talking to some people who could think.

......................

Biggest English overhyped player ever.

..............

Considering he is in line to break some very long standing goal scoring records for both club and country, I would say some of the hype is well warranted.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Considering the fact that some people seem to genuinely believe we should have dropped Rooney for some of the other 'world class' strikers we have I would say he is hugely underrated.

Defoe, Bent, Sturridge, Welbeck.... Rooney is a superstar compared to those jokers.

What? a bit like CR7 did?

He will probably move on at some point I have no doubt. But he's just signed a 5 1/2 year contract so he won't be moving on too soon < ok>
