Nice goal he scored tonight.
Not particularly on topic for this board, but does anyone remember a renowned expert who explained Townsend's previous game-changing appearances for England were a flash in the pan?
I can't find the post. I think he may well have nothing about his game, but I'd have to refresh my memory to be sure.

Townsend is yet another England international who's career was boosted with a loan spell with us

It was a great goal, only seen it on the news, didn't watch the game.
He's obviously been watching Mr Murphy and Mr Austin and certainly not been watching Mr Morison.

He's a very one dimensional player, but doesn't mean he won't ever make an impact. He can be effective with his direct running and has a good shot on him.
Would like to see him play more regularly for Spurs or another team. Not international class though for me.

Hang on
He's done nothing for 18months, Spurs been trying to sell him all summer, struggled to start games
And because he's come off the bench for 20 mins and scores a goal, he's suddenly a world beater !!!!
Some strange logic about

Warnock thought Brown and Tongue were better than Barkley and Townsend!!
What a useless manager he was....

Spurs dont play with natural wingers in the formation they use, thats why he doesnt play and why they sold lennon too

Three goals in eight games some as sub puts him in the world beater territory when you compare it to Steve Morison ' record. That's the chap you laud JALIW because he can trap a ball and run down channels.
Steve Morison is a striker.

So he doesn't get a game for his club side (much). Gets picked for his national side, England not Lichtenstein - and seems to score when he does.
Just imagine how good he could be if he played regular 1st team games?!?!?
I'm not saying he's a world beater by any measure, but he's being selected to play for his country, and does a job when played. Fair play to the lad.
Not saying you're wrong Liw .... it's probably a fair comment. I personally think he's a good player, just doesn't appear to fit in at his club.

The England team last night was riddled with Leeds rejects.
