So if Townsend is getting picked on his England form, then WTF is Walcott getting picked on, he is not playing club football, and has done nothing of note for England, other than getting a flukey hat trick several years back.

To be fair, around 95% of the Spurs board have said the same thing about Townsend and him not being good enough for Spurs first XI.

I recall being called all sorts of names for supporting Townsend on this very board.

One minute he's a headless chicken who can only play against the lesser teams, yet now because he's shoved Merson's words down his throat he's popular.

If Townsend can just find a bit more consistency on the pitch, I think he can be one hell of a player. Keep it up Andros...

I have to agree with some of you boyz about TW, I hope we get rid of him.

I thought Townsend did very well and made Merson look the Mug that he is, Walcott on the other hand was awful.

I thought Carrick made a huge difference and the moment Henderson was taken off we looked like a decent team.

It baffles me how Henderson now appears to be first choice CM for England, we were shart at the world cup with him in CM and we were shart away to Italy with him in CM, he is well below the level of what an England midfielder should be, decent against minnows but out of his depth against the big fish.

What a cop out!!! That is such a playground and nonsensical view on football (from Merson). David May won far more medals than the likes of Shearer for example. Why can’t the pathetic drunk just say fair play to Andros. If the goal had come against Lithuania he would have told him to score against better opposition – yet because it was against one of the best keepers in the world he comes out with this rubbish.

Henderson baffles me full stop. When I watch him I just see this average player but then when I read the match report he gets like an 8/10 and a glowing review. His passing is quite good and he chips in with a few goals but talk of him being Gerrard’s long term replacement is a joke.
