Hanging on...

Not our greatest weekend for results; all those below us won, except Burnley, who drew. I ask you, can't the WHL shower even beat Burnley!

But.... we're still out of the bottom 3, and with a 2-point cushion (well, 1-point cushion really because of goal difference). Our future is still in our hands, and on Tuesday night we have to seize it with both of those hands. After all it's only QPR. If they beat us I reckon they'll still go down, but that might take us with them.

Testing times. Hang on lads. We can do it! UTV

I’ve tried to be unbiased so here’s a mathematical approach to predicting who will go down presuming everyone outside the bottom 6 is safe.

Home games:
0 points against teams in the top 7
3 points against teams outside bottom 6 (not in top 7)
3 points against teams in the bottom 6

Away games:
0 points against teams in the top 7
1 point against teams outside bottom 6 (not in top 7)
0 points against teams in the bottom 6

Sunderland: 8pts

Palace home
Stoke away
Southampton home
Everton away
Leicester home
Arsenal away
Chelsea away

Villa: 9pts

Spurs away
City away
Everton home
West Ham home
Southampton away
Burnley home

Hull: 4pts

Southampton away
Liverpool home
Palace away
Arsenal home
Burnley home
Spurs away
Man Utd home

QPR: 6pts

Chelsea home
West Ham home
Liverpool away
Man City away
Newcastle home
Leicester away

Burnley: 8pts

Arsenal home
Everton away
Leicester home
West Ham away
Hull away
Stoke home
Villa away

Leicester: 10pts

Albion away
Swansea home
Burnley away
Chelsea home
Newcastle home
Southampton home
Sunderland away
QPR home

So based on the above they’ll finish on:

Villa 38pts
Sunderland 37pts
Burnley 34pts
Hull 32 pts
QPR 32pts
Leicester 32 pts

Hull, QPR and Leicester to get relegated!

P.S. I'm useless at maths!

Cox: OK those may not the actual points at the end, but I think your approach is pretty good at seeing who's in most trouble. It matches my back-of the envelope approach, Leicester maybe having the easiest run in and the hardest job to do. And 34 points being enough to stay up; it might even be less.

A win and a draw might save us. I'm hoping for at least 2 wins.
