League One - Ex-Liverpool star arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods

Former Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena has been arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at famous London department store Harrods.

The 33-year-old was arrested at the Knightsbridge department store on Tuesday afternoon, along with a 31-year-old woman, believed to be his girlfriend.

Both Dossena and the woman were bailed pending further enquiries, according to a report in the Liverpool Echo newspaper.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers were called to the store.

"Police arrested a 33-year-old male and a 31-year-old woman on April 7 on suspicion of shoplifting at Harrods," the spokesman said.

"They were taken to a west London police station.

"Both the man and woman have been bailed to a date in late April, pending further enquiries."

Andrea Dossena leaves Liverpool

Dossena, who currently plays for League One club Leyton Orient, signed for Liverpool in 2008.

The full-back famously scored his first Liverpool goal in 2009 against Real Madrid.
