Reports are stating that levy told the spurs supporters trust that investment in the playing squad will be based upon potential resale value (not the same as saying that he'd like to sell) but the target would to not be lumbered with players like Adebayor, or unable to sell assets like Soldado for anywhere close the amount you invested.
Do you think that the chairman is being more vocal about this now in preparation for the new stadium, the potential for funds to be diverted towards the stadium, and making star player investment less of a priority.
To me it sounds very similar to the transfer policy that Arsenal took throughout the last decade after the new stadium move.
Arsenal had a good team throughout, but lost the star players to clubs with more financial powers and were unable to challenge those clubs with more financial muscle.
Will the next decade be Spurs and Liverpool fighting for 5th and 6th until their stadiums unleash new financial potential.
And if not how will Spurs break the top 4 without the investment in top proven talent?
Levy says buy cheaper

well...it certainly put pressure on this new cheif scout......
but its the only way forward i'd say...its not to far from what we do now is it.....i fear we've left it too late and will only ever make T4 once in a blue moon and probably NEVER challenge at the top......we've just got WAY to much catching up to do.....and it's set up for the same teams to remain the elite.....

There's always a chance of top four. One fancied team always seems to have a shoddy season.
Plan right, buy young British talent, develop our own, and buy well when buying senior players. Get it right and you're always going to have a shout.
Liverpool and Spurs have fielded the youngest teams in the league this season, both a work in progress, both with a high celing for our players

More of a statement that the more expensive players who on paper were mostly intended to be finished products and immediately delivering, in the main have not (been) .
And those in the mentioned price band have in the main been very good for the club (on pitch, sell-on) .

I think the real key is once we have signed a player who turns out to be a real gem.....DONT' SELL HIM!
I don't recall the likes of Berbatov, Carrick, Modric, Bale etc etc costing us a fortune to sign.
