In The Words Of

"....and I've had enough, had enough".

No, not of Burton Albion or even the manager, but of the people I go to matches with. Never have I known such negativity coming from such a small group of people (there are six of us), and not once this season have I actually heard any of them encourage the team. Why bother when it is easy to criticise Corbett for a misplaced pass, Macca for yet another aimless hoof or Palmer for losing possession again?

I actually thought the dictionary definition of the word "supporter" was along the lines of "a person who is actively interested in and wishes success for a particular sports team". Not from where I was standing this afternoon it isn't.

That was the fifth league game of the season and our first defeat, so I can't see why the moaning was so bad. Ok, they threw away a lead again, but then looking at the players available, especially for our back line, I'm not overly worried. I really feel that once reinforcements are brought in and Cleveland is back on the right flank we'll come flying out of the traps.

As for standing on the Pop with this bunch again, I think I'll be standing on my own at the other end of the stand. For once today it was what happened off the pitch as opposed to on it that ruined my afternoon. Thank goodness I'm back out to Russia again this week....

Rant over.

Even JA606 is conspiring against me now!

That was supposed to read "In The Words Of "The Enemy"....

I was quite proud of that tag as well...

Re Defender - see comments from the Rams website after last weeks reserve fixtures

"Buxton played for an hour after recovering from frustrating year on the sidelines with a succession of injuries, and he produced a sharp and commanding display at the heart of the Rams' backline"

Must be fifth or sixth in line now. Could he be the answer for six months?. Works for us as it fills the gap until Parkes and Stanton are back and gives him and Derby the chance to see that his injuries are behing him.

I'd thought that Buxton could offer a short-term solution as well, especially now that he is clear of injury. It isn't that long ago that he won player of the year for an, albeit relegated, L2 side. Maybe Cloughie could help us out here.

I think Steve has a point about Jake Buxton who is going to find it hard to get into the side when all those injured are fit. Maybe the timing is not quite right for Buxton or Derby in general, may be a few weeks too soon ,or could have brought in possibly O'Brien rather than Buxton. What about the out of favour Dean Leacock?

Agree with Wednesbury Brewer, don't lets get pessimistic about the Accrington result. More teams will lose at Accrington than win.
For the pessimists here's 17 reasons to be optimistic
1. We undoubtedly have a much better squad than last season.
2. In this League which is very competitive we could not have anticipated to have been any better off points wise.
3. Our new attacking philosophy leads to exciting football.
4. We potentially have the best attacking players in the Division.
5. We have been in front in most of our games(compared with last season where for the most part we were slow starters and having to come from behind) Just need to finish a game off now!
6. I know that we fans and Managers often kid ourselves
in saying that we could have easily won games that we actually lost. I think its true that it would not be unreasonable to say that we were in the position to win all 5 of our league games, and deserve to have had 2 or 3 victories under our belt.(We would be 3rd or 4th in
the League)
7. Defensively we have only conceded 6 goals in 5 matches which is the average for the division.
8. To my mind, the Manager has been saying all the right things.
9. Ross Atkins has proved himself to be a good replacement for Lego, and will get better.
10. The signing of Billy Key shows ambition.
11. That everything has been done without loosing the Burton ethos, or having to dismantle completely yet the "conferenceness" of the team, to which we have a great loyalty.
12. The determination and commitment of the side at the end of last season, has become a standard for this season.
13. We are not easily intimidated by teams these days
(remember Stevenage at home last season)
14. It has almost all been done without the need to resort to No7
15. We have not had much luck at all, with refereeing decisions , injuries, or generally. This should change soon.
16. Very soon we are going to "hammer" somebody when everything comes off!
17. We have more to shout about and be proud of in our team than ever before.
I started off wanting to list 10, but have got 17!
Case prooved!
C'mon you Brewers!
