is now seemingly surplus to requirements, and new blood is obviously needed, what makes supporters think that Spurs are just going to be able to shift the deadwood easily, they simply are not. Some of the players, whilst not on mega wages, still command a hefty salary, way out of the reach of your average club, where most of the players will be heading. And human nature being what it is, I doubt any will be wanting to take a pay cut. So don`t be surprised if Spurs start next season with pretty well the same squad as this season, give or take a player or two. Poch will in all probability have to try to get the best out of what he has, I just don`t see much activity in the transfer market, now that the building of the stadium is going to be started shortly. All funds I would assume will be tied up with that project.
Seasons of misery are about to start.
Monday morning has got off to a flyer.
Given that a lot of the Spurs squad

Morning Sandy
I think most of us are in agreement that Adebayor, Capoue, Kaboul, Chiriches, Paulinho, Holtby, Lennon and Soldado are the deadwood in our squad.
So thats 7 players and as you say its extremely unlikely we will be able to shift them all out.
From what ive read Holtby has either been bought by Hamburg or there is an agreement in place for the sale in the summer.
Lennon is impressing at Everton so i think that will be a sale in the summer.
Kaboul for some reason is wanted by Galtasary and Chiriches wanted in Italy so i think they will go.
Regarding Adebayor, Soldado and Paulinho, they are going to be the hardest to get rid of, although i wouldnt mind Soldado staying as 3rd choice cf.
I can see us signing 3 or 4 in the summer but as the recent club statement implies we will only sign players for no more than £15m.
Paul Mitchell and his scouting team are meant to be highly rated and i think they have their work cut out but there are Bony's and Benteke's out there weve just got to find them.
Im also hoping that Alli, Caroll and Pritchard are given a chance in our squad next season.

Exit of Ade Kaboul Paulino and Lennon-will give a mental boost to teh squad-a these guys are not after putting in a performance-merely collecting their dishonest wages

Dont cry for me Argentina
I think somehow Soldado will be kept. May as well just play him now and also Capoue, try to get a bit of confidence back, nothing to lose now frankly.

Regardless of how many of the duds we shift, I don't have much confidence that we'll replace them with good players in the summer. Probably replace dross with dross I suspect.

Good to see the Spurs board so filled with optimism for the rest of this season and next

It's quite a big test for Poch next season.
The only player he has bought in this country for any real money was Osvaldo and Wanyama. Osvaldo was an unmitigated disaster whilst Wanyama has worked but was still considered a risk at the time. He can't pass a ball though.
I would have thought that a fair few of the lads you have mentioned will go out on loan to places like Italy.
Conversely though I'd be more concerned about keeping Erikksen and Lloris - the two players of real quality in the squad.

I always though Capoue looked quite decent. There are rumours that he has a poor attitude and its probably no coincidence that both Sherwood and Pochettinno refuse to play him.

He had Osvaldo on loan at Espanyol about 4 years ago and he did well there. The major flaw in his game is his temperament.
As I alluded to earlier, Levy has pretty much ruled out sanctioning any costly purchases this summer, and while I'm not naive enough to believe that the more expensive the player, the better he'll be, I'm not confident that we'll find players of the quality I'm looking for (by that I mean better than the likes of Townsend, Lamela, Mason, Adebayor, Kaboul and Soldado) at the sort of prices Levy is thinking about, which is no more than £15m.
