We keep hearing by pundits/journos, particularly on Sunday Supplement.
Is he? I accept in terms of trophies won, he has a fantastic record.
There's a chance within the next 2-3 seasons he'll be competing against us for one of the Manchester teams.
But i've never fully got the hype about Pep the way i have about Jose, Sir Alex, Sir Bobby, Clough etc.
I know it's ignorance on my behalf but I think as much as he's done well, he's also been a massive beneficiary of circumstances. His Barcelona side wasn't on the bones of it's Ar$e when he took over them. Yes he was bold to replace some established players, but it wasn't like he miraculously turned things around from a club that had not challenged in years etc.
I could be wrong but the Munich team he inherited was not too shabby either.
I did not want Pep when he was on his sabbatical and a few on here thought Roman would tempt him out of it early.
I accept taking the Munich could be construed as a risk when you consider what they'd just done, but IMO until he does it for an "underdog" in comparison. I will never be truly convinced he's the best in the world.

Despite only being there 4 seasons, Pep is responsible for 50% of Barca's champions league trophies, won the league 3 out of 4 attempts, produced probably the greatest team football has ever seen, won the Copa Del Rey twice, UEFA Super Cup twice, Club World Cup twice, won four trophies in his very first season at Bayern and looks set for at least another two this one.
But yeah, average manager, should go to Wigan to really prove he's got what it takes.

he didn't really have much time at chelsea but he won the double then was sacked. apart from the league cup what else has Jose won over him?

I'm a big Carlo fan but to say that he did better at Chelsea than Jose is simply ignoring the facts.
Jose had better CL runs than Carlo did and if goal line technology had been in place in 2005 then Jose's Chelsea side would have got to a CL Final and in my opinion would have won it.

Down to 10 men , cech banned, and losing 1-0?
Sure you would have

Guardiola isn't the best manager in the world because his achievements aren't on par with Mourinho's. At least that's my opinion.

The ref said had the goal not been given, he would have sent cech off and given a penalty
You were going out either way

I wonder if so many in the British media would keep referring to Pep as the best manager in the world if Jose had taken the Utd job instead.
